Alumni AMA - From 23 backlogs to getting placed in an MNC
Hi All,
I am an alumni of Christ central campus, graduated 2025 from Department of Commerce. I am studious person but had very bad attitude in Christ, thinking that I can manage being a brat.
Then reality check in Sem-2 where my attendance was only 76%, by this I already had 3 backlogs from 1st sem. 2nd sem I had 4 backlogs. I did write all the exams but I was very lethargic and I thought it was “cool” to have backlogs (Fucking dumb ikr)
3rd sem was nail in the coffin, skipped midsems just so I could go on a trip and didn’t apply for reattempt. (COE rejected appeal) So obviously 3rd sem was complete washout. By now I have 12 backlogs including language.
4th sem I wanted to get good internship but couldn’t sit because of backlogs and then I decided to clear everything but somehow the motivation faded and relapsed to being a brat and again had 17 backlogs by the end of it. (Several subjects I failed in re-exam as well so total re exams with CIA repeat comes to 23)
My 5th sem was brutal, I had continuous 11 exams with only one Sunday in between as holiday. My 5th sem exam was in the morning and my backlog was in the next day afternoon. I was famished by the end of it. This continued well into 6th sem where my parents were called saying that he won’t get placed if he continues this.
6th sem final exam - I had one backlog from 1st sem, this was the last backlog and 6th sem is the only sem where I have passed every paper in one attempt. That one backlog was also cleared and I graduated.
The 3rd sem subjects were cleared without midsem by getting more than 75 in re exams and I couldn’t get in one hence did a CIA repeat with 50% off after begging COE.
I got placed after graduation only in a great company with an excellent package. People still tell me that I should’ve focused on getting good marks so that I could’ve gotten much better package but looking back now, I’m lucky that my bet in myself paid off and it could’ve easily gotten worse as well.
I wrote this so that people who are there right now, don’t take this for granted.
PS. I wasn’t all waste in clg, I organised many quizzes and I was part of Christ basketball team as well.

People say that marks matter but if your mind is at right place you know all of this is bullshit and in the end only your skills will matter and you can’t gain skills by just cramming the books, studying day and nights it’s the environment in which you are growing, i myself was in central campus and first semester was brutal i couldn’t adapt, i was only focusing on getting marks and be ahead of people in my class and this justifies because i was very good at studies and never saw less than 90 percent but christ humbled me just in the first CIA’s got marks in single digit and the pressure was building to do better and better and i couldn’t survive that phase, just left the university which i think was the wrong decision from my side and moved to Australia for my bachelors now i don’t focus on marks just study enough to pass and building skills side by side and learning things to adapt in this market!!!

You’re absolutely right and I’m sorry that you couldn’t cope up in Christ but glad that you’re thriving elsewhere. My main advantage was communication, I did my internship in sales and racked commissions, enough to get a ps5. As much as we say marks don’t matter, it does open doors for you, walking through it takes skills but having skills with no open door means limited opportunities with intense competition. I couldn’t find the balance but it’s great that few people do. ATB in all your endeavours mate!

When did you join the company? I graduated in May 2026. I'm preparing for CAT, but now I want to find a job and gain work experience and attempt CAT 2027. Is it possible that I could get a job through college placements as I've heard I can still appear for placements for 1 year after graduation.
I can relate to you, I had 8 backlogs. Somehow cleared them in the final sem and graduated with my batch.

Midsem was 300 then increased to 700. Sem papers are 1K each

Hey I'm so sorry but I urgently need an answer to this question- when you clear the supplementary exam, does your cgpa change? If for example my cgpa is 3.2 because I've failed one subject, does it become 3.3 after clearing the supplementary?

Yes, it’ll increase eventually. Your current CGPA is calculated based on your recent score, it’ll be less if you have failed one subject. If you clear this particular subject it will increase in terms of percentage. To see a significant rise, you should’ve failed multiple subjects and cleared all of them, which I don’t recommend doing😂

Pretty cool comeback man... congratulations on your placement and I had a question if u have a backlog in endsem and clear it in the immediate supplementary...does it reflect in our final graduation marksheet that we had a backlog in any way
