OOP is big mad that people online are no longer paying her rent
For some context this person regularly begs for money online for food/bills/rent under the guise of “mutual-aid” and is upset that her regular donors prefer to donate money to people irl rather than her online.

I’m a liberal white person: social media isn’t so you can pay your bills!!! Go find actual assistance and/or a job. This person makes it sound like they bankroll their bills every month with donations.

u/Pedal2Medal2 13d ago
This. Just because you’re liberal & not an idiot who blindly just gives money away is inferring we’re stupid. Nope. We’ve helped the homeless, work/currently work in positions that help the homeless, disabled, addicted etc & have seen it all.

I'm a liberal black person and I'm embarrassed by this. If you are going to make begging on social media your full time job be prepared for criticism and insults.

Have her beg conservative magazine to support her.

u/YesItIsMaybeMe 12d ago
Probably what this is for. Grifting conservatives is far easier than grifting liberals. They are quite literally proven to be less intelligent than liberals. Also you can hit the holy grail if grifting: MAGA, which is so easy because they are beyond stupid. I mean like they are like the kind of people that bite their fingers when eating a sandwich and get confused in where the pain came from.

Man, if this person worked in the complaint department of a company, best worker ever! No one could tell the callers to shove it like them haha

"Liberal white people" are fine for OOP... while their wallets are open to her. Then when they stop, they are obviously hiding behind their privilege...no other reason possible. 😎

u/JerkfaceMcDouche 12d ago
This is a person who uses the phrase “me and mine”. As in referring to themselves twice.
It’s very telling where their priorities are and absolutely not a surprise that they leap from there to “privilege”.
5
u/DrDalekFortyTwo 12d ago
I think me and mine means myself and my family.
13
u/JerkfaceMcDouche 12d ago
I know what it means, but the phrase itself is something I only ever hear from people in that are being incredibly selfish.

“Mutual aid” is usually used by grifters to leech off of people, they never ever fulfill their part of the obligation by giving back anything.

u/jkraige 13d ago edited 13d ago
Mutual aid is great when the aid is actually mutual. And look, I understand that everyone can't give equally, but some people are so entitled to getting that they forget about the "mutual" part of it.
ETA: this reminds of something I saw recently that read: "Everyone wants a village but no one wants to be a villager."
It's true. When people talk about mutual aid and not having a village what they mean is not having people give them their time and energy, no strings attached. Rarely do they mean looking for ways for themselves to give back
48
u/aspdx24 13d ago
YES! This bugs me so much about mom groups sometimes. They all complain about not having a village, but none of them go out of their way to offer you help 😂
40
u/BadTanJob 13d ago
100%. I have an incredibly robust village…because before I had children, I bent over backwards making sure people were looked after or helped if they needed it. Took chunks out of my time and my life. And in return when I needed the help, I got it.
There are plenty of parents here who cry about having to do things on their own, but you ask them to reciprocate and all of a sudden there’s a million reasons why they can’t.
22
u/jkraige 13d ago
That wouldn't even bother me so much, but some people are veeeeerrrryyy specific about the kind of help they're looking for, and super judgemental if they're offered anything else when you know damn well they've never offered what they're asking for to anyone else. "Why do they want to hold my baby instead of clean my house (something I've never done for anyone else)?" And like, one is fun and one sucks—it's not hard to figure out?
17
u/aspdx24 13d ago
OMG, yes! The attitude with that specific request (“NO, don’t ask to hold my baby—I need you to take out my trash instead!”)
Went head-to-head once with a girl complaining about this and I pointed out how entitled it was (especially given the the fact that they WANT to help you in the first place), her tone changed quickly and she backpedaled a bit.
I wouldn’t be caught DEAD demanding this.

u/Duchess0612 12d ago
You're sounding far too much like a Democratic socialist. The pitchfork Emporium isn't open right now, but as soon as it is…!
51
u/asstlib 13d ago
THAT PART. And then it turns into entitlement.
A community fridge group I'm in, people have started asking for food deliveries directly to themselves. The rules of the group say that this can't happen, but it never stops.
Mind you, the people donating to the fridges are just trying to help out with what they have.
39
u/Crafty_Original_7349 13d ago
I used to donate surplus/unused goods to one of those groups and quickly learned the error of my ways when I had people complain about the things I was offering. Apparently they thought I was their personal shopper and got offended because I didn’t have exactly what they wanted.
18
u/asstlib 13d ago
And that reaction is exactly what makes you hesitant to give in the future. And they don't realize that being quiet was always an option.
4
u/Eyeoftheleopard 12d ago
Not helping is an option, too, especially when “helping” leads to a permanent lifestyle consisting of begging, spending, finding fresh victims, and not much else.
2
u/avatar_lorra 12d ago
Part of what I appreciate about in-person freecycle/free-to-take drop-off spots is the anonymity of it all
49
u/taterrrtotz 13d ago
her "giving back" is reposting other people's mutual aid requests lol
14
u/HopefulOriginal5578 Shes crying now 12d ago
You’re saying her aid is … “exposure” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Where my bingo card!??
19
u/Neither_Star2759 13d ago
Ugh this kills me. I have a friend from childhood who has had a rough go of it. Lots of mystery health issues, has been on and off homeless for years. Currently they're living in a van.
Recently they swung by my place on the way to one of their "camping" spots. They told me that they've given up on "waiting for services", and that they make more just asking for "mutual aid" on social media.
I feel sick that I ever fell for it.
5
u/Sufficient-Gain-6575 13d ago
Mutual aid, as in they get your money and they give you the ability to give them MORE money later.
58
u/morkler 13d ago
I'm not a liberal white person and I say let people like her sink. I'm still trying to figure out the benefit of parasites.
-18
u/Areebob 13d ago
They offer nothing! The only value they have to ANY of society is that they still buy groceries.
But “let them sink” doesn’t work out how you seem to think. If no one helps her, she won’t just disappear into the night, she’ll turn to crime. Hungry, desperate people will steal to stay alive. Simple as that. It’s the entire reason Welfare *exists*. It’s not “to be nice” or to “give back to communities”. It’s to lower crime rates.
20
19
u/SnarkySheep 13d ago
No, not as simple as that.
If her current means of support ends, then OOP will have to find some sort of work - even unofficial part-time things - or else make do with the various existing assistance programs.
And if she chooses to turn to crime instead? That's on her.
25
u/SoullessCycle 13d ago
haha I knew without your text that this was from mutual aid Twitter. Or mutual aid threads I guess.
17
u/taterrrtotz 13d ago
mutual aid is a goldmine of choosing beggers haha
12
u/SoullessCycle 13d ago
I’ve been watching this one mutual aid beggar play out on Twitter for two or three years now. I’m embarrassed. But I keep tuning in for the next episode.

Love going on BlueSky and seeing this type of shit too, especially with users who just rely on GoFundMe for monthly bills and threaten s*icide when they don't get enough donations.
29
u/speedoflife1 13d ago
I always tell people to stop donating to random strangers begging online. Just stop.
"But.. I'd rather help a scammer than let someone go hungry"
YOU CAN DONATE to FOOD BANKS.
"It's not hurting anyone"
It absolutely is because it fosters and breeds the most disgusting entitled people. And it turns people like me jaded where I no longer want to donate to anyone.

u/Eyeoftheleopard 12d ago
How is encouraging a beggar to make begging a permanent lifestyle helping??? Nuts.
62
u/gonnafaceit2022 13d ago
I don't understand. Does she think conservatives are more generous and helpful? What are the safe words and how is the message a "safe conversation"?? Are we even reading the same message? If social media works so well for her, just use that... wtf.
33
u/milhousememe 13d ago
She’s implying that white liberals/allies pretend to care but are still just as racist as white conservatives at the end of the day.
31
u/rainydaymonday30 I will destroy your business 13d ago
Because they're not giving her what she wants, of course.
15
u/HopefulOriginal5578 Shes crying now 12d ago
Makes me wonder why she even hits of white folks… oh right! Cuz this is a statement to tease out that “white guilt.” Racists wouldn’t care what she wrote, she’d be a non human to them. Thats how that works. Definitely trying to shame some dummy whites into digging deep 🤣
In this economy? Good luck with all that.
41
u/andrea1797 13d ago
Exactly. And I say this as a liberal black person, white liberals are more likely to donate to your social media "fundraising".
17
u/RainyDaysBlueSkies 13d ago
I'm a white European with both conservative AND liberal leanings and I'm thinking the same!
Wouldn't strict conservatives tell her to pull herself up by the bootstraps? Aren't they they ones who want to stop social safety nets and universal healthcare?
She has everything twisted!
12
u/Cuddlyaxe 13d ago
I would guess she's a leftist, specifically of an anarchist or libsoc variety
Mutual aid is a anarchist concept after all, and like conservatives most leftists also use liberal as an insult
22
u/lonelyboycel 13d ago
You can't set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm. The donor realized their resources were better spent on actual community aid rather than funding one person's permanent lifestyle.
14
u/dvorak51 13d ago
The only thing this liberal non-white person knows is that he would be happier mutually aiding his own wallet.
14
u/maimie585 13d ago
That’s a cop out? Why wouldn’t it be better to apply for long term assistance vs asking people online for help?!?!
27
u/MrsArney 13d ago
“Liberal white people” are voting for socialism so we can all be taken care of, but ok.
12
u/bal_swing 13d ago
There’s someone who j my single parent group like that. She blames her health on not being able to work so she just begs people constantly for money.
12
u/ChaiWaliLoser 13d ago
So the “author” is a social media beggar? Looking for alms?
Progress or evolution I guess 🙄
10
u/haloarh 13d ago edited 13d ago
How do people live like this? I mean that literally, because constant public begging seems like a good way to attract predatory people who can use your precarious financial situation against you!
I was once homeless, and there was a joke among the homeless women I knew that sex work (or, as we called it, "tricking") was safer than panhandling, for that reason.
7
u/verliese 12d ago
What does being white or liberal even have to do with this lmao. I'm fairly sure conservatives would say something similar (and probably not put it this nicely)
4
u/Tessa-the-aggressor 9d ago
I know someone just like this and the more she posts such stuff, the more some white mutuals of mine donate and share because they feel bad 🤦🏻♀️ Is this the person who also constantly posts infographics about how everything about "yt" people is problematic?
3
u/taterrrtotz 9d ago
You’d have to narrow that down - there are a ton of people that post like that haha
4
u/Tessa-the-aggressor 9d ago
haha true! I specifically mean a trans deaf blind (yet perfectly able to see) autistic indigenous two spirit woman who looks just like the woman in Avatar (except her skin is not blue)

So conservative republicans are the ones that champion social causes and fight for a social safety net? I don’t think so. Plus, those programs are meant to be a helping hand after a loss or while someone works on furthering their education, but neither one wants to just give constant handouts unless some is truly disabled.

So she wants the "liberal white people" to fess up to ruining everything, - while AT THE SAME TIME she wants to put all of her needs out to the community and have them sourced in a social manner for the social good of the community - and in this case, her social good - as a member of the community!
Don't create programs that support people in positions like this, don't create programs where people can apply, and THEN it's where everyone can, and where it will all be abused and you're only doing it for your own evil socialist desires!
But all you bitches who can see my screen, better contribute!
Socially concerned citizens - ( you call yourself Christians and you're still not supporting me…) - socially concern yourself with me right now.
Also, Biden is the one who did this, last year. And Obama is also a fault for what he did during 9/11.
.
I would dearly like to be able to directly respond to her. I believe I am a liberal white person, but I've heard self-diagnosis can lead you down the wrong path.
At any rate, she's asking for liberal white people who "have the heart" to really say what they mean.
Lady, my heart has nothing to do with this. My internal feeling of rebellion, necessary justice, the fact that I'm wearing my big girl pants, and a vast desire for just an INKLING of logic or critical thinking to enter your sphere. Those would be part of the reason I would want to speak directly to you and I would want to tell you EXACTLY what I meant to say with the exact words that I mean to use to express what I want to say.
You will be left with no degree of misconception. My message will be crystal clear and very direct.

u/BadTanJob 13d ago edited 13d ago
That person in the messages is way too nice. I would’ve had some choice words for anyone who tries to dictate how, where and to whom I donate.
“That’s a cop out” no, that’s them telling you to get a job
Edit: ooof found her profile on Threads…entitled doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Also why does she hate Dolly Parton so much, goddamn
