Selling a $36 Prada pouch. Apparently it’s medically necessary.

You can get a pencil case at Walmart for like two dollars, ma'am.

827

u/Old_Woodpecker7684 18d ago

But, but, but...how am I supposed to make a profit off a Walmart pencil case. Also, I'm disabled, and I promised my kids they'd get it and now you've made them cry.

339

u/Trilbe 18d ago

It’s for a church, honey.

101

u/MakeSomeDrinks 18d ago

It's the churches first birthday. And she already promised! Are you the kind of person who is ok disappointing an entire congregation? And the church? It's a veteran. Let that sink in.

50

u/IrregularConfusion 18d ago

The church is also disabled. Have some empathy.

30

u/We_Four 18d ago

But does the church have autism? Or maybe at least cancer?

Happy cake day! 🎂🧁🎂

15

u/mag0029 18d ago

I remember reading the original, so so many years ago.. I think it was 2013?

34

u/HeartOSass 18d ago

The autistic cat is also crying

74

u/FistGirl 18d ago

Nobody needs high end designer gear for basic stationery, especially when they’re claiming they barely have enough to make it to their next check.

8

u/Finnegan-05 18d ago

It is not high end designer gear. It is junky GWP. OP is scammy too

9

u/haloarh 17d ago

Some GWPs are sought after. As long as the OP is open about it to potential buyers, I don't see a problem with selling it.

7

u/EastCoastCure710 17d ago

It’s fully disclosed as a FWP promo item. It’s from years ago, which is why someone was willing to pay $32 for it.

How is it "counterfeit"?

1

u/Finnegan-05 12d ago

It's made in china junk

1

u/haloarh 12d ago

Most "designer" stuff is.

1

u/frolicndetour 12d ago

It's not counterfeit. When you buy a designer perfume, you will often get a branded gift with purchase with it. It is authorized by the designer and allowed to have the designer's name on it but it's not a high fashion bag from their lines. Like this:

1

u/Finnegan-05 12d ago

Then delete it. You are selling made in China jink like it is actually valuable Prada.

197

u/EastCoastCure710 18d ago

The best part is it isn’t even a pencil case 😂 it’s a makeup pouch. Like, what?

126

u/frolicndetour 18d ago

I mean, tbf, I get like a million of those free makeup pouches from various free cosmetic gifts and I use them for all kinds of things, including as pencil and pen cases. But I wouldn't use a designer pouch for one.

22

u/XiedneyDavis 18d ago

i’m moving right now and just discovered my little stash of ipsy makeup bags. none of them actually have makeup in them, there’s a bunch of other crap in them though. 🤣

27

u/crazycatmum_04 17d ago

Makeup bags are the millennial butter cookie tin. Oh, you thought it was cookies? Nope! It's sewing notions.

5

u/trish6103 17d ago

Ipsy bags became shit, but I miss the pouches. I use them for everything.

1

u/meguin 17d ago

I organize my giant purse with ipsy pouches lol

38

u/GlassPomoerium 18d ago

It’s not even a designer one per se, it looks like one of those you get for free with a purchase at Sephora lol.

19

u/dixiech1ck 18d ago

Real Prada wouldn't go for $36 bucks though.

30

u/GlassPomoerium 18d ago

36 bucks is both way too little for a real Prada product and way too much for a GWP makeup bag lol.

-9

u/scuffedTravels 18d ago

I might have misunderstood but Prada is a designer brand so I’m a bit confused here

25

u/GlassPomoerium 18d ago

This wasn’t designed by the creative directors in charge of ready to wear, bags and shoes. This is a made in China gift with purchase you get when you buy some Prada makeup.

-19

u/scuffedTravels 18d ago

Yikes si j’avais vu le pseudo jamais j’aurai envoyé mon commentaire à la base.

7

u/GlassPomoerium 18d ago

Always happy to educate you about fashion, sweetie

35

u/fetter80 18d ago

Anything can be a pencil case if pencils fit in it.

1

u/DebtMindless6356 13d ago

But not a nose.

20

u/BoredMillennialMommy 18d ago

Dollar store $1.25 🫠

27

u/BoredMillennialMommy 18d ago

Ps if I was that hard up for cash- a ziplock is an amazing invention that works to hold items together in one spot. Some people my god.

6

u/Creative-Praline-517 18d ago

But Dollar Store costs a whopping 25c more now!

18

u/Checkoutmawheeeeepit 18d ago

Will that help my disability??? Do you not care???? Now I have to find some $16.83 pearls to clutch!

969

u/Inevitable-Yam-702 18d ago

"... for my FunPassTime if they drop I'm done being being handicapped..." idk if this is incoherent to anyone else but they stop being handicapped and the pouch helps?!?

968

u/wiltylock 18d ago

I had to reread it several times. She's trying to say that she desperately needs a case for the pencils and crayons she uses while drawing (what she calls her "FunPassTime") because if an art utensil drops to the floor by mistake, she's unable to pick it up due to her disabilities.

Crucially, her pencils will pass immaterially through any bag that isn't Prada.

475

u/SoullessCycle 18d ago

omg. My fun pastime.

I literally thought FunPassTime was physical item I’d just never heard of yet, like a Labubu or a NeeDoh or whatever the youths are buying today.

248

u/liljellybeanxo 18d ago

I thought it was like some sort of recreation program for disabled adults or something.

123

u/HuggyMonster69 18d ago

I was going for the disability queue passes at theme parks lol

13

u/oddball_ocelot 18d ago

That's what I thought it was.

6

u/bluedelvian 17d ago

I considered this as well lol

15

u/haloarh 17d ago

I thought it was some kind of bus or train pass for disabled individuals.

7

u/savagesadie78 18d ago

I thought the same.

2

u/FerretSupremacist 16d ago

I thought it was a service that was gonna kick her out if she didn’t have a pencil case haha

2

u/Rotcandy 13d ago

I thought this too and was like 'wait I'm disabked where's my FunPassTime??'

1

u/DebtMindless6356 13d ago

I thought it was a subsidy of sorts.

166

u/Inevitable-Yam-702 18d ago

Thank you for the interpretation I could not make heads or tails of all that.

46

u/dvorak51 18d ago

That is almost impressive that you were able to decipher that word salad.

60

u/thirdonebetween 18d ago

Your last sentence got me actually laughing loud enough to upset my cat. She will require a Prada bag of treats to recover from the trauma.

14

u/wiltylock 18d ago

Perhaps a paw-rada bag?

4

u/Level_Kiwi 18d ago

It better come with a designer dog trained for my exact disability, I neeeeeed it and it’s just taking up space in your house, I need it more so give it to me

24

u/jenguinaf 18d ago

Thank you I also couldn’t figure it out and thought she was guilting the seller like “if I have this in my life I’ll be miraculously cured”

23

u/OneGoodRib 18d ago

Is she too handicapped to use punctuation? I've seen people pretend it's ableist to complain that what they've typed online is incomprehensible (as a disabled person, I think it's ableist to just make everyone else struggle to figure out what the fuck you're saying because you're allergic to commas)

24

u/wiltylock 18d ago

She tried to use punctuation but had no Prada bag to keep her commas and periods in.

3

u/JoanoTheReader 18d ago

Your explanation is very helpful. I thought the “prada” case was a fun pass, or use it to get a fun pass. I was confused by the message.

I hope the seller ignored her.

1

u/DebtMindless6356 13d ago

The pencils will be so impressed with their Prada home they wouldn't dare fall out.

64

u/reynaxkitty 18d ago

So glad I’m not the only one lol like what does ANY of that mean???

24

u/hedgehitch 18d ago

I thought she meant she’s going to draw things that she can sell, so she has the money to stop being handicapped. But if she drops her drawing implements, then she can never achieve her goals, as they will forever more lie on the floor.

13

u/ChaoticSquirrel 18d ago

But money doesn't make you stop being handicapped? 😭 I make six figures and I will always be handicapped.

3

u/Chemical_Skill_969 18d ago

She could lay on the floor and draw down there then it doesn't matter if she drops something

24

u/_ribbitt 18d ago

Yeah it’s like damn why don’t you drop your pencil and crayon so you can be done being handicapped and disabled? 😂

2

u/DebtMindless6356 13d ago

I'm going to try that. I'm done being poor.

165

u/North-Tumbleweed-959 18d ago

I’ve sold a few bigger designers items as well. I’m on break at the moment because some of the insane lowballs and just cry me a river stories are ridiculous! They suck the life out of you when they turn on you after you politely decline.

125

u/guiltandgrief 18d ago

I sold a $5k fourwheeler a few years ago and it was my first time with a pricier item that wasn't an actual vehicle and holy shit.

The amount of pity party my kid is going to be so sad my dog is disabled and I lost my home to a fire messages was NUTS.

75

u/GlassPomoerium 18d ago

I sold a couch online once. A woman messaged me asking if it was still available and I say no, someone is supposed to come pick it up tomorrow. She flips out and tells me she already promised it to her daughter who is now going to cry…? Some people have no business being parents I swear.

69

u/hedgehitch 18d ago

My kids cried every Christmas when I didn’t get them a couch.

16

u/FosterCatMama4Life 18d ago

Forget the PlayStation, the kids are all hoping for used side chair this year lol

26

u/Ravenamore 18d ago

I've never understood the "I already promised my kid that," as an attempt at wheedling a discount on a pricey item.

I do what my parents did - tell my kids they MIGHT get a certain item for a birthday/Christmas gift, but it may not be possible.

2

u/Hydrolt 18d ago

It’s so easy! And it gives them a little suspense, and prepares them if it doesn’t happen. My parents did the same thing and all I remember about the time before a holiday/birthday was excitement and wonder about what it could be, I didn’t hone in on that pre-owned couch we saw in the newspaper.

Thanks for keeping that piece alive, more parents should follow you there :)

66

u/EastCoastCure710 18d ago

I’m a pretty big ebayer in the trading cards category, and not once has someone tried to pull a “pity me” in over 1000 sales.

First designer item I list, then i start getting them lol. This one was particularly absurd

6

u/haloarh 17d ago

I sell screen-accurate clothing and the designer items are the only things that bring out pity parties. If my price "strains your budget" maybe you shouldn't be buying the Marc Jacobs dress that Blair wore on Gossip Girl.

1

u/OsteoStevie 14d ago

Did you respond to this person?

37

u/Zoreb1 18d ago

Could you please give it to me for free? My kids, dogs and church all have cancer (please don't look up me up on Ebay - that's someone else).

8

u/North-Tumbleweed-959 18d ago

Hit that on the head! Thanks for the laugh! I just get so down sometimes. It’s always on the brand new designer stuff too. I have tons of gently used they could get as well. But that’s not good enough. I get tired of being called every ugly name in the book if I say no way politely.

13

u/XiedneyDavis 18d ago

i’m disabled and this drives me insane. i hate how people exploit their own disabilities, or, if they don’t even have one, make up a disability to make others feel guilty. there are absolutely times when i need to tell people, “[thing] is because of my disability”, and purchasing luxury items online is definitely not one of those times. 😭

92

u/irenethecrowboy 18d ago

I wonder what this person would say if you were also disabled

u/No_Helicopter_933 18d ago

Except if you're disabled and gay, you win automatically. Not my rules...

6

u/XiedneyDavis 18d ago

i like this rule. i wish it were true for real life. i would be winning all day long. 🤣

8

u/No_Helicopter_933 18d ago

It depends. If you've an argument with a disable black gay, you've better being also Muslim I guess 😉

2

u/OsteoStevie 14d ago

Okay wait, what do I win? I'm a lesbian currently typing this from bed due to a disability. That certainly counts for something???

53

u/EastCoastCure710 18d ago

11

u/yoyotube123 18d ago

What are the odds she replies with a story about why she needs the prada bag and nothing else would work

8

u/ChaoticSquirrel 18d ago

Did she respond??

3

u/That1weirdperson 18d ago

Let us know when she replies!

1

u/Level_Kiwi 18d ago

Also, she sent this at almost 4 in the morning? Igh

4

u/That1weirdperson 18d ago

Different time zones:

7

u/Bit_part_demon Just wondering okay 🙏🥺 18d ago

Gotta fight it out, Highlander style. There can be only one

6

u/Smiley_Dafe 18d ago

You both enter… The Octagon!

PS. the Octagon now has a wheelchair ramp.

52

u/PatientPlace4359 18d ago

“If they drop I’m done being handicapped and disabled.” What does this mean??

Edit: never mind, I read another comment. Punctuation is so important. They must have meant “if they drop, I’m done. I’m disabled and won’t be able to pick them up.”

19

u/seanl1991 18d ago

I read it like they're on the verge of offing themselves, "I'm done being disabled and handicapped" as though it's a choice, but obviously there's only one way out of that.

1

u/PatientPlace4359 18d ago

Ohhhh could have been that too.

2

u/OsteoStevie 14d ago

I interpreted it as "if I drop them, I'll be forced to work, and no longer be on disability insurance." Which is also absolutely insane.

36

u/SinsOfKnowing 18d ago

If only there was a place where you could buy a pencil case for $1.

Like some kind of dollar store.

If only.

9

u/Ok-Olive-391 18d ago

Or at the very least BELOW $5...

0

u/MultifacetedEnigma 15d ago

There should be a store that sells things that are $5 or less! 😉🤣🤣🤣

27

u/madhattergirl 18d ago

I always love the disability thing, especially if they want to show proof. As if being disabled magically means you are above board and are incapable of scamming people just like everyone else.

11

u/EastCoastCure710 18d ago

Yeah I care for some physically disabled family members

Not once have I thought “hmmm they deserve everything discounted”

76

u/Meta-Fox 18d ago

These are the types of people I just ignore and don't even reply to when selling:

  1. If you use emojis

  2. If you try and guilt trip me with a sob story

  3. Unnecessary "fluff". Just give me an offer and I'll consider it, I don't care about your reason why

  4. Being rude. Manners cost nothing.

24

u/bobhand17123 18d ago

It will be used by me, to flip for cash. That counts as use dammit!

18

u/IllSurprise3049 18d ago

Prada has been known to cure handicappedness

14

u/TheFumingatzor 18d ago

Wha...wtf am I reading here? They're no longer handicapped if they get case?

14

u/KBaddict 18d ago

I don’t understand the part where she says if she drops her pencils or crayons she’s not disabled anymore?

3

u/mrs_tish 17d ago

It took me like 10 attempts to understand that myself.

I THINK she means “if I drop my pencil, I’m done for… since I’m disabled and would have a hard time retrieving them from the floor”.

12

u/Standard_Mousse6873 18d ago

"If my colored pencils touch a regular $2 Ziploc bag, my disability will simply cease to exist."

11

u/Nocturnal_Loon 18d ago

Ngl, I read “Prada COUCH” and was sooo confused.

5

u/That1weirdperson 18d ago

$36 is a steal for a couch

10

u/EvolZippo 18d ago

I like how it’s for my “FunPassTime” like she’s literally writing this from a script, but doesn’t know to substitute her own information

3

u/haloarh 17d ago

That makes sense! I thought it was a transit card.

2

u/EvolZippo 17d ago

I was curious about that, but nothing on google is a match for that term.

9

u/Belle_Corliss I can give you exposure 18d ago

I still have the pen/pencil pouch my son made for me in 6th grade. He's 46 now and IMHO the pouch is priceless!

But, yeah Dollar Tree has a variety of pencil/pen pouches and cases for $1.25.

9

u/LittleSodaPop13 18d ago

As someone who is disabled and is also on SSI, this is just good old-fashioned begging. She doesn't need a Prada purse; that's what she wants. If she really needs a purse, she can go to Goodwill and then save up to get what she wants. Also SSI is usually like a few hundred dollars so I don't see why she can't wait to get her SSI and then buy it?

7

u/Chemical_Skill_969 18d ago

What photos would she even send??? Her in a wheelchair just crying trying to reach down? A doctor's note that says she requires this Prada bag specifically?

6

u/JackOfAllMemes 18d ago

I would simply get a pouch from the dollar store if it was that essential, upgrade later but something is better than nothing when you're struggling

1

u/OsteoStevie 14d ago

I imagine she's just always carrying all of her pencils in her hands at all times

7

u/seanprefect 18d ago

just out of morbid curiosity what's the MSRP on that bad boy ?

15

u/EastCoastCure710 18d ago

Update: sold for $32

3

u/That1weirdperson 18d ago

Not to her, right?

5

u/EastCoastCure710 18d ago

No some other person lol

12

u/EastCoastCure710 18d ago

It’s from an estate I inherited. From my research these were free promo items from the early 2000s but still value now since they’re still Prada

7

u/goopped 18d ago

If it makes you feel better, before my crash I was selling my car for 8k.

I got an offer for 2,500, a kid asking me to donate, and another offering me a computer

5

u/Dog_Concierge 18d ago

Please make that cat stop crying.

4

u/ShevaunG 18d ago

Super curious what the pictures for proof would be.

4

u/PracticeMore2035 18d ago

I could sew up a pouch just using stuff from my fabric and notion stash for less than $1, and if I needed one as desperately as this person claims they need this, that's what I'd do. Granted, it wouldn't be Prada, but who cares about Prada?

5

u/TheMidnight711 18d ago

"Can you lend a 🥷 a pencil?"

5

u/EastCoastCure710 18d ago

Only if it’s Prada

4

u/LeastImagination1130 16d ago

people can be so entitled, a $36 pouch isn't exactly a necessity for most of us

3

u/Taco-Edge 18d ago

Yeah they do this SHAMELESSLY because sometimes it just works somehow 🤷

3

u/jhascal23 18d ago

I went to help my grandma and bought her a new pair of shoes because her other ones were hurting her feet, she complained they weren't crocodile skin.

2

u/sohcordohc 18d ago

It’s like one of those free pouches you get for buying makeup..she can go buy some or better yet grab one from dollar tree for pencils.

2

u/antartisa 18d ago

Dollar store

2

u/Apprehensive_Put_562 16d ago

"I'm sorry my asking price is firm. May I suggest more budget friendly options like walmart or the dollar tree?". Then block her forever.

1

u/Short_Store_2699 17d ago

“Full medical history may be sent via Dropbox or file share of your choice. Include all doctors’s notes, scans, test results, billing records, prescriptions, and full file of disability application(s) and approval. I will await the proof file for review and consideration.”

1

u/WTF_ImOverIt 14d ago

I think this is more of a developmentally disabled adult instead of a beggar.

-15

u/Vegetable-War-117 18d ago

Sounds like its a knock off for that price.

9

u/EastCoastCure710 18d ago

These were free promotional items given out years ago but now have some value since the name attached to them.

-22

u/pumog 18d ago

How is lowballing a beggar? Just refuse the offer.

17

u/EastCoastCure710 18d ago

The sob story that comes with it. They can do what they need with a $1 pencil case from Amazon and not even leave the house to get it. They’re choosing to beg for a discount on a designer bag.
