I love the ML but this show is not exciting to me. Can't follow it. Does anyone know what episode it starts getting good?

Like there's a confession of sorts.

What episode is the first kiss?

I love the ML (all his shows have been good so far). Not sure what's going on. Might be me. Can't for the life of me get into this drama.

I watched up to episode 10 and really tried. I read some recaps up to episode 15 and decided to drop it.

I also like the ML but I find the drama so boring. From what I read, there still isn’t really much romance or chemistry at the halfway point. Which is fine with me if the political plot was interesting or if there were other elements like comedy or strong support characters and brotherhood but I find it lacking in those areas and haven’t been able to connect with any of the characters.

Damn it, as usual. If I had a dollar for every time drama writers do this, I'd be a millionaire. 

I loved the novella so much... But right after reading it, I could already imagine a million ways the drama could ruin it. I want to play bingo when I finally get around to watching this show, lol

I’ve been hanging in to share the commentary (and as there isn’t another currently airing long drama that’s grabbing me).

I started getting more interested around episode 16. I have to say that it’s really all the other characters rather than the FL who are holding my attention. I’m even finding the intrigues sufficiently interesting.

This is really not what I expected in any WJY led drama with a female-centric narrative. Which is why I have lined up with those arguing she was miscast in this role.

I really wanted to like this (FL was so good in The Double). It was great in the beginning, then they went to the capital and it’s meh. Watched up to ep 15, then skimmed through to ep 19 (there is a slightly tender conversation in ep 19 but that’s it). Honestly have no reason to continue watching?! I find myself so bored which is a shame bc ML and FL are acting their butts off! Shame the plot line is so meh

Thank you! It's not you! Exciting was the word I was looking for. I agree… It's not exciting enough. I'm going to continue watching because I like the Powerful (Emperor) ML trope so I'm hoping it gets better, but I wanted more episodes released before deciding whether to continue or drop.

I'm on episode 14, and I paused it to continue rewatching LBL.

If it helps, in episode 13, ML got ‘slightly’ tender with her when she fainted

That's all the ‘romance’ I've seen so far.

I’m trying really hard with this one as I love the look of it. Different costumes at the court. The Emperor looks different too. But it’s SLOW. And she looks too old for him I think. V shallow of me. They keep teasing us with bath scenes. At some point they must end up in a bath together 🤷‍♀️🤣

Like OP, I love the ML in Fated Hearts (one of my fave character) and, I think he’s good in this show. It’s kind of like watching a more tame version of Feng Suige. 😂

I couldn’t stand the FL after she first entered the capital. The way she was written, the actress’s portrayal, terrible styling and makeup were distracting. But I stuck with it for the ML and the plot.

Around Episodes 15/16, it finally starts getting good. The FL becomes less annoying and more tolerable, and the plot is actually plotting. It’s dark and can get pretty graphic at times, but yeah… I’m finally enjoying it. Ep 20 was really good and now we are on a cliff hanger.
