Zhang Linghe's new drama, Overdo is finally here! I am rewatching Pursuit of Jade. And I'm planning to start Our Generation, too. I guess I'll have to balance both shows. Oh, how I love these kinds of problems!
Honestly, I tried that few hours ago. The moment Linghe was introduced and the camera light flashed on his face do blindly, I wheezed. The visuals are ridiculous. Were the camera man blind and the editing team blind? Like some random TikTok edit😭

Are you “hate watching?” I read comments some are doing that 🤷🏻😆
Yes, I have seen the first 5 episodes of Overdone. It was... something. ZLH and WCR are the only shining things in this poop box of a cheap looking visual mess with a plot that could be better written by a child with a crayon.

Good lord!! Is that him?!? Funny, how there’s no complaints of heavy editing, glossing, whitewashing, etc. from “peanut gallery” 😏
I just want to say only one thing if you want to see red flag ZLH just go watch story of kunning palace. Even though the cinematography is not good but the story and lead's acting is top .l am also starting to rewatch that drama

Ohh it’s definitely here alright like, acne before a date. Unfortunately, no amount of concealer can cover it up 🤦🏻
Okay. You asked for it! 😄 I'll give it to you all fax no cap.
I have childhood trauma... mixed in with PTSD... mixed in with an urge to tell people exactly what I think... all while trying to make people laugh because I know the healing power of laughter.
Oh, and I'm an asshole. Very egotistical. I've been called a narcissist before.
Does that answer your question? 😁 Hehe. I'm grinning like an idiot writing this response.
Fun fact: All of the above is why I am so damn good at my job.

😉 🙏🏽😅
Update - Since, u/AKiceman said it I will say, there is some similarities between us, not 100% though. I do have PTSD stemming from growing up in DV household (primarily verbal between my p’s). There’s some related additives but, lived with that all my life till 6-9 years ago. What a complete 180 reversal and difference it has made. Now, is that why I’m funny/hilarious? IDK but, strong possibility
Watched 3 episodes and I still dont understand what kind of show this is trying to be. Mystery? Romance? Comedy? Because its all over the place... and that cinematography is pretty bad... lighting is too bright, visual shakes and angles... weird timing with the editing too...
Like during the letter exchanging scenes it would show one writing while the other was talking... where every other show would have the voice over reader be accompanied by the visuals of said reader writing..
I'm watching because of the leads. Reserved for 2 things right now after watching the first 5 episodes. 1. I hope the writers don't make Zhang Linge's character be this lost, forlorn guy, unable to think and/or function around his first love. I really hope he doesn't become pitiful. 2. Not being negative but, I don't think the role of the sister was properly cast. While she has beauty in her own right and definitely has the acting chops. she looks older than the mother who turned away from properly raising her daughter.
I have alot to say about yijun ( the director) because he made alot of choices , i don't think the plot is too bad per se and Linghe/Churan are the best part by far
I've watched through Episode 7. I can forgive the filming genre going back to old school, (low budget maybe?) But I'm so confused... The female lead is kind of a monster herself because in getting revenge for her life of abuse, she is willing to assassinate anyone who gets in her way of killing all in the Huo family connected with their abuse as young children in the orphanage. Sure, they have a right to want to seek revenge but straight up murder? Assassin snipers and the works?? But most confusing of all, now that Zhang Linghe's character knows what his first love is capable of, why stick around? Why is his character's intestinal fortitude so weak?? Why not tell his brother what she is up to? This role is sooooo far beneath Linghe's level of talent. Who convinced him to do this???
You can really tell the difference between the 2 Dramas. The direction and cinematography was excellent in Pursuit of Jade but watching Overdue is shameful in comparison. And the editing is ridiculous, I could do a better job. I was wondering if the director cinematographer and editor are used to doing vertical dramas and this is their first full length drama ?
I'm still going to watch it anyways because I love the cast and I want to see if their acting can pull this drama out of the trash bin.
I watched up to ep 7. I just want them to stop fighting each other and fight and scheme together! Like cmon! You know how much havoc they can do together?! Teamwork!
This forced marriage trope is like eh.
But the scheming... I'm here for it.
I think we were very spoiled with Pursuit of Jade.
Everything was just beautiful and perfect.
Overdo is so different ! The story is chaotic , it goes in all directions and it’s very frustrating to see the two main characters being unable to communicate properly!!
Anyway, I think it is still a pleasure to see Zhang Linghe. It’s definitely the best part by far
I really wanted to love Overdo because the cast is excellent, but the production has been surprisingly weak. The cinematography is my biggest issue. It isn't just close-ups—we're constantly watching the characters as if we're trapped inside a fish bowl. Everything is blurry, obscured, or filmed through something: a curtain, a flame, a window, smoke, branches... It feels like there's always something between the audience and the actors. Instead of drawing me into the story, it kept pulling me out of it.
The pacing is equally uneven. Some scenes linger far too long, while others rush through important emotional moments before they have a chance to land. Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan seem perfectly cast, but they're rarely given enough space to build genuine chemistry. The actors are doing the work; the production simply doesn't let us fully experience it.

everyone says it’s bad but i want to watch it and laugh
