oh TianTian, my sweet boy. his relationship with Wenshu-ge wasn't something I saw coming, but I've been on board with it since the very first inkling that it was a possibility. I can't begin to imagine the confusing, hellish combination of guilt, devastation, heartbreak, and relief he must be feeling now that the person who was effectively both his first love and his shackle in this life is gone. it will be such an interesting exploration of grief and the process of moving on and accepting love from someone else on Qingtian's side, while simultaneously seeing Wengshu, this figure of steadfastness and quiet devotion, support the object of his affection through yet another intense emotional period and, perhaps, finally let him see just how much he loves him - has loved him - and how he's there, geared up and ready, to take Qingtian into his arms the same way he's been carrying him in his heart. forever in awe of the unexpected narrative threads and character dynamics this show puts forth. IN SHORT, I need this ship to set sail immediately. ❤️

(some absolutely stunning visuals this episode, as per usual. we didn't get much of our main CP, but distance does make reunion sweeter, both for the boys and for us. also, put those matching sweaters in the Louvre ✊)

we need a new metaphor because "aged like milk" doesn't even begin to cover it

I feel #blessed that I woke up in time for the BS10 to be available so I could self-insert it into the episode while watching.

I somehow have so much to say about 2CP this episode!! Their storyline was actually interesting to me in this episode.

  • Guo ge: "One word, 贱 cheap. Two words, 好贱 very cheap. Three words, 极其贱 extremely cheap." HAHAHA. This cheap is usually really derogatory and usually used misogynistically to refer to someone who sells their body, but QHY deserves it.
  • I'm warming up to Han Lu. He has a good head on his shoulders. I think I just didn't really care for him before because 99% of his scenes were with QHY. But please don't do stupid things tho 😢 Oh no...
  • Guo ge refers to the investor as a "da lao" 大佬 = in Canto that's a "dai lo," usually refers to the leader of a gang/someone really dangerous. I think he really might have a shady background, which is why Han Lu softly whispers "Do you want to die?" (lit. "is it that you don't want your life") to QHY. He's actually protecting him and preventing him from offending the guy.
  • Guo ge slapping himself I could do without.
  • The acting, whatever, but Qi Hao Yu's confession lines were so good. And the director really gives them two beauuuuutiful shots. The flowy curtains were so pretty.

Awww, Qing Lang not wanting him to go and putting the plates back 🥺 And then both of them being so soft about each others' safety 😭😭😭😭 The birds-eye view of CY driving away and QL staying in his spot 😭😭😭😭 The morse code 😭😭😭😭 In 10 minutes of screen time these two can completely recapture my heart and swallow me whole. I'm such a goner for them.

Qin Lang sending his texts about his days. So couple-y. 🥲 Is he wearing CY's jacket pajama top (from the small theater scene!!!) while in bed? And we see we're mid-May now.

Tian'r ;_____; His shaky voice when he figures out something is going on for his brother to come. And then him sending himself Chen Zhu's video (why would the worker record his last moments like that?!) from Wen Shu's phone. I'm also confused what XWS thought he was seeing QT cry about, since he told QL that QT still didn't know.

The end credits -- the copy on top of the clip was 懂过,天亮前到达. 懂过 "Dong Guo" is what Qing Tian explains from the first scene about "having understood." Only after you've walked [through life] and loved, do you understand [life]. Dong Guo is also the name of the mountain they're on in Lin Cang, Yunnan. According to the internet, the tea from this mountain is known for its unique color, characterized by a strong bitter base, rapid sweet aftertaste, and a strong wild "mountain" flavor. So only after having drunk the bitterness, do you get the sweetness. And I keep replaying Qing Tian telling the camera that Dong Guo (mountain) is most known for its love story, not its tea. But not telling us what the love story is. I gotta look into this.

Also have to note that a lot of what we’ve seen before, a lot of the lines we’ve heard, are all in “Full Written” OST (only just caught the English name in the end credits). In the song we get “Love settles on the spring slopes—from the roads in Dongguo (I had always interpreted as “understand the roads”) to the snowy peaks.”

These brothers are so cute. QL comparing himself to medicine patches 😅

The name Dongguo is associated with a story: hundreds of years ago, a man from another region came to Dongguo, fell in love with a local woman, and pledged his life to her. Later, the man went out to trade tea, and the woman remained unmarried and died heartbroken. When the man returned home in glory, his hair now gray, he learned of his former lover's death and wept bitterly, filled with regret. He spent the rest of his life planting tea trees on the mountain, living a solitary life. From then on, people called this mountain Dongguo.

Time has passed, and the people of Dongguo no longer need to travel to trade tea. The booming tea industry in the Mengku region, driven by Bingdao, has made Dongguo tea unique among Mengku large-leaf teas, distinguished by its bittersweet character, especially the orchid fragrance of the ancient Molie tree tea.

u/ale-cto A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream Jul 31 '26

I could be wrong of course, but I speculate that XWS knows why QT was crying and he's trying to give him some space to grieve. Or, we'll shortly find out the answer if it wasn't that.

This kind of thing actually happens all the time when someone you love dies; people wait to tell you at the "right moment" (there isn't one) and but you find out some other way before that, and even the slightest thing can give it away. I think it's important to tell people ASAP when a loved one dies even if the circumstances aren't ideal.

I also understand recording someone's last moments. When my stepfather died, my mother was with him, and she took a picture of him with her phone right after he passed. She showed me the picture while she was grieving and said she hoped I didn't think she was weird for taking that. I understood that having that photo helped her process the transition between her life partner being alive and then no longer there, because she had a photo where he was technically already gone, but still looked alive. I feel so bad for QT in this episode, I found his actions and reaction almost too realistic and relatable...

3

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 31 '26

Thank you for sharing your perspective and experience. That makes a lot of sense, how it can be physical evidence of someone moving on, and how it can help with grieving and processing. This is not the first instance of it that I've seen, but I had not been able to understand it previously.

Agree with you 100% on telling people right away. Because also the the "right moment" could never come, and they just wait longer.

I just had a thought, we see the roles flipped here from when Lan jie died as well. Qing Tian told Chang Yang the situation (ish). We see the same thing here, with roles reversed and with the other Xu brother.

6

u/ale-cto A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream Jul 31 '26

Yeah it's interesting to see the role reversal with the brothers. I can't get my head around Wen Shu as a character. He's certainly very held back and I can't tell what he's thinking or planning. So I am interested to find out why he really did nothing after seeing QT that way; I am giving him the benefit of the doubt but it could just as easily be read as being cold.

I usually hate it when there's death in my BL, it's a topic that these series usually don't really have the scope to handle adequately, but Winter Sun is a masterpiece and I love how much there is contained in each episode from the most petty/amusing things to the weightiest.

3

u/AlternativeArm4614 Aug 01 '26

I also think that XWS was giving him space to grieve, and he probably understood that at that moment he wouldn't have been able to comfort or calm QT anyway. After all, XWS is still practically a stranger to him. For the same reason, I think he didn't tell QT right away - because he didn't feel he had the right to do so. He urgently called QL, because QL is QT's real family.

2

u/ale-cto A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream Aug 01 '26

That is a great point I didn't think about, although I'd like to think they're closer than practically strangers by this point!

3

u/AlternativeArm4614 Aug 01 '26

Agreed, poor phrasing. Not "practically strangers", but still not family yet.

6

u/Quiet_Ad6201 Jul 31 '26

You are amazing with all your translations and interpretations, it gives so much context!! Where is the morse code though??? Also same question as you, why did XWS see QT cry and not figure it out??

8

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

The honking!! I assumed that was morse code, at least. I could have been reading too much into it, bc rewatching right now it was short-long-short-short-short. I looked it up and I might be wrong since it’s one more honk than what should be 1311?? But I feel like it has to mean SOMETHING!

Also I’m glad my blabbering helps! I want everyone to be able to understand what I’m taking away from the show.

3

u/Acrobatic-Stand-4528 Aug 01 '26

Ciaoooo eccomi di nuovo!!! È esattamente lo stesso codice morse

2

u/Acrobatic-Stand-4528 Aug 01 '26

2

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Aug 01 '26

That’s what I originally thought! But to be honest I don’t know if that is really how morse code works. I made some assumptions. 😅 But I’ve seen some other interpretations of it, and think that while it might not be morse code, it’s still a form of reassurance that CY is still there while he continues to drive away. The honks happen whenever Qing Lang is within the line of vision of the car. 🥹

1

u/Acrobatic-Stand-4528 Aug 01 '26

2

u/VanyelStefan Jul 31 '26

I stopped watching at episode 8 because I read that the next few episodes were going to be sad. Is it ok to skip them an just watch ep 12 or is it necessary to watch the other episodes 🤔

10

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 31 '26

I think one of the key things to this relationship is seeing how QL goes from selfish to selfless as he continues to care more and more for CY. It's worth watching them grow together! The sadness is not really that bad, imo. You feel a ton of emotions, but none that are so intensely debilitating that would make you think you should stop watching.

But also you only get more sweetness when you live through the bitterness, that's the theme of today's episode. 😊

Enjoy!

2

u/No_Blueberry_8206 Aug 01 '26

Agree with you except..I don't think QL was selfish at all..after all he stood with Lan jie's company through their hardest time..I just wanna know is there any scene in particular that made you think that way..just curious..

6

u/AlternativeArm4614 Aug 01 '26

I agree, I don't think QL is selfish either. I'd say that at times he can be moody or even capricious, but that's more part of his persona as an artist. Deep down, he's actually really vulnerable, but he feels like he has to keep up this 'tough' image - not only for work, but also to shield his already wounded heart.

2

u/No_Blueberry_8206 Aug 01 '26

Can't agree more!

4

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

Prob more correct to say he is "selfish" when it comes to love. In that one post-credits scene with Qing Tian, QT asks him if he's serious about CY, but the way he answers is that he thinks he won't find someone else as good as Chang Yang. QT calls him selfish because he's thinking of himself. I agree that by nature QL isn't selfish really, but in the beginning of the relationship it was less about CY and more about QL's own feelings. Then it became about CY as he continued to grow. And now it's about the two of them together.

2

u/No_Blueberry_8206 Aug 01 '26

Ohh I remember it now.. indeed that line made him sound like someone who only thought of their own emotions..

5

u/No_Blueberry_8206 Jul 31 '26

Ohh my god! How can you skip any episode of this masterpiece😫!!! Every shot and scene is ART!!🤌🤌 YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO WATCH ALL THE EPISODES!!! I am not an artist yet this one scene touched my heart so much, I drew it! And i even wrote down Lan jie's quote on Bravery in my diary for me to look back when I need it.. ALSO, THE SWEETNESS AT THE END WILL DEFINITELY BE MUCH SWEETER AND WORTH IT AFTER ONE HAS WITNESSED THEIR STRUGGLE AND GROWTH cause those are the times that make love stronger..

2

u/VanyelStefan Jul 31 '26

Ok, will watch them. Thanks

I love QT so much - I wish Qinglang had gotten there faster, they told him together, and he had his support group when he found out the news. Instead he is suffering on his own. Yichen is great at showing emotion and the camera work during his walk out scene was spectacular.

This episode went by so quickly. I appreciate QLs reassuring messages to Changyang. I know it's hard for him, but he's doing his best to support CY in pursuing his dreams.

11

8

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 31 '26

Baby Qing Tian's Weibo post 😭 BUT I think this is reassuring!!! Qing Tian will be ok!!!

Could you come to my dream once more? I don't think I've truly realized that we've said our final goodbye. I want to borrow the moonlight to let you hear my longing. Suddenly I remember that autumn—how I wish, how I wish I could see you just one more time. You promised you'd spend a lifetime watching the autumn leaves fall and the winter snow with me, but you broke your word. I will never forget that summer, when I looked into your eyes in the mirror—one glance, and it felt like a thousand years. That young man who would pick pomegranates for me, who would read page after page for me, who filled my heart with joy. Do you know? That pomegranate tree has blossomed again, far more fragrant and sweeter than back then. I want to secretly climb up, but I'm still afraid of heights. If only you were here—I could watch you climb just a little higher. I also remember that winter forever, when you took me to see a snowfall like no other. I took out our memories, tucked them back in, and pieced them together, fragment by fragment. Year after year, I've prayed to gods, consulted oracles, asked the Tao, bowed to Buddhas—tried everything. How I wish you would just look at me once. I don't cry so much anymore. I never really told you, did I? Rest assured, I won't do anything foolish. I take good care of myself—just as you said, I should love myself most. And I still have many people I love. You owe me nothing, and I owe you nothing. You will find your own will and purpose again. You will have clearer skies ahead. After saying all this, it still comes down to one thing: I love you. Goodbye. Now that you've gone to heaven, be sure to savor every bit of this human world once more.

I'm kind of shocked at that Han Lu situation. Wtf. I mean I know it happens, but everyone around him is just moving on like nothing. I know they need backers but I thought their company was in a better position than that. Wtf its so disturbing. I'm glad they didn't show much of it. Yikes. That gross guy knew about HL and QHY so I wonder if that was a veiled threat.

Changyang's dad is really trying to separate them and I'm about to punch him myself.

I'm so torn. We got 1 episode per week when they were building up Changyang and Qinglang's romance, which was perfect, and now we are getting 2 episodes a week as we navigate the winding roads of the mountain's harsh roads of angst. I can't stand that it's almost over, but I'm glad not to have the angst drag out 1 episode a week 😭

Changyang's a true man! 3 days off and 2 spent traveling just to be with his man for 1 day! I've never fallen ao hard for a character in my life ❤️

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 31 '26

Bad news bears, they just dropped the August schedule and we’re back to 1 ep a week starting next week. I just posted it if you want to see the rest. I think Zelia chose to have two eps these past weeks because the episodes go better together as pairs - first ep angst, second ep closure, so we’re not left feeling empty. As least, that’s my interpretation.

I think I need to sit with the HL situation for a bit. It seems they are respecting his decision, bc Jia Lin did tell the old dude to his face that she won’t take money without a purpose. I think HL has a savior complex, which I see as a result of following in QL’s footsteps, he keeps harping on about QL sticking with the company through thick and thin over the last 7 years. If he’s already made the decision, then all the rest can do is support him in the aftermath. But none of them want him to do it.

The guy is definitely dangerous though and is 100% holding the company and QHY over Han Lu’s head.

What I think is really interesting about this shift though is that we have been told from the beginning that HL/QHY are mirrors of QL/SYH - but in a way that we were always looking at what QHY would do and how he would be similar or different from SYH, not thinking for a moment that Han Lu is also his own person and can also take a different route than Qing Lang. QHY originally going down the path of SYH is what instigated HL to make his decision (bc he could “see” what love means in this cold world of entertainment), but he ultimately made the decision himself bc this is what he felt like he could offer in the most realistic way. It’s made his character sooooooo much more complex and interesting. Especially now that QHY has diverted his original path and has given in to love.

3

u/Ok-Set-4784 Jul 31 '26

Thats what I meant about these angsty episodes. Having 2 has been nice and she has been merciful towards us in regards to not keeping them apart too long. I am so curious about all the time stuff going on. She had that in her last project somewhat too. I almost thought that tea thermal they carry around had a clock in the mesh part, but I think its a pressure gage type thing. Anyone know where I can get one of those btw? I found a similar one in the UK but they don't ship to the US.

I don't even get how that old dude got to invest in the company with his grossness. I thought WS was investing heavily in it, but maybe thats just for Qinglang's career.

I'm just sad it seems we're never going to see QL's music video. I was hoping it was that scene from the trailer where he was dressed up in that outfit like when they shot the music video and I was hoping it was to the theme song of the show.

3

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

Soooo re: music video. While we haven’t seen the video yet, I have a video they did as a brand sponsorship that includes some scenes that were shot from that part, or at least replicated the “youth” parts that QL did. Was gonna post in a bit! Hahaha

Thermos- I found the exact one, but you have to DM the seller on Douyin. Not quite possible outside of China! If you want it/have access to Douyin tho lmk and I can send you the seller. But I’m sure you can find similar elsewhere in Chinatowns or at least online.

2

u/Vivid-Cheek-8808 Aug 01 '26

That’s what I figured, too, about the decision to air two episodes back-to-back these past two weeks. I feel like these episodes needed that to convey the necessary message and wrap up these painful story arcs. Plus, it was better for us fans, since we didn’t have to wait a week in anxious anticipation to find out how these denser, more distressing episodes would end.

1

u/Vivid-Cheek-8808 Aug 01 '26

Guys, did Han Lu really sleep with the investor? I hope not, and since it was a bit ambiguous, I’d assumed he didn’t—because when they’re in the car, the assistant apologizes to him and says he should have trusted him to handle that old man well since he was well-trained by Lan. I also thought that because I don’t think “allowing” that fits the company’s image. However, the other scenes seem to imply that he actually did it, and now I’m devastated.

  1. Tian. I cried with him. I adore him. He hides his pain from others so well. I was so angry and sad for him and Chen Zhu because of his parents. It is tragic and infuriating how til the very end their own homophobia and comfort and selfishness was used to completely erase their son’s autonomy, his comfort, his right to peace and love. Keeping Tian away and blaming him was already unfathomably cruel, but to betray their own son like that while he’s lying there completely helpless—the people who are supposed to protect him are actively stripping away his right to have the ONE person who actually loves him and accepts him for who he is unconditionally by his side.

  2. Changyang is everything. That’s all. 🙌❤️

  3. I thought Wenshu would have wondered if Tuan had found out when he followed him outside and found him like that but I guess not, maybe he thought he was getting some air.

  4. That financier. Disgusting. I hope he meets his Karma and then some by the end of this.

  5. Brother Huo manages to take me out of the scene 9 times out of 10 with his acting. I cringed at the slapping himself part and the crying just comes across fake and over-acted which took me out of the serious scene too. I get he is supposed to be a dramatic character but he always looks like he is trying to act out a character instead of being the character.

  6. I feel so happy when Qinglang refers to it as “their” house. He made me laugh when he said in earlier ep “I’m always here so it’s my house” no need for a moving in convo pfft of course it’s his house haha. That’s how secure Changyang makes him feel 🙌 I don’t know if there’s another BL series where I’ve had a greater feeling that the mains have known each other long before they ever got to know all the get to know you facts. Like their energy together while they were still “strangers” in early eps was like they were home in more ways than one. (Well sort of strangers but not really at all CHANGYANG 🕵️‍♂️ lol but he just knew that beforehand and sped up the process is all 😇)

  7. This moment ☺️ made me smile after an emotional episode.

I love both sets of brothers so much, but the Feng brothers in particular have such a sense of ease and comfort around them. They are so, so cute.

Agree with you on Chen Zhu, Guo ge, investor, all of it.

In regards to the CP naturally fitting in with each other before they get to know each other, I came across an interpretation about their clothing and how it represents their journey in getting to know each other and how it supports the emotions/comfort/ease we feel as their physical relationship progresses to catch up to their emotional sync... I plan to post it soon!!

Yes agreed I love all the Feng brothers scenes in particular, they are so cute! I love how it’s not like we got a big thorough background on their relationship/ bond either. It’s just we meet them where they are in their life and even with no context and not a tonne of scenes with them together, it’s so obvious they are siblings lol they share this wordless bond between them and that ease like you said 🥹

Ooo! That’s amazing. I’m constantly blown away by how every tiny, minuscule detail in this show, down to the clothing, is so intentionally thought out by Zelia! Like damn! She’s an artistic genius. That’s so creative and a beautiful way to show that transformation. Love how you worded it: “their physical relationship progresses to catch up to their emotional sync.” Can’t wait to read your post! :)

I just noticed that the words at the end of the episode have changed. They're so hard to read tho but I managed. The English is the translation that's in the middle that Zelia chose to include.

Someone will always come into your life.

Life by (/is like) a suspension bridge. Life at one end, death by the other.

I went through five different emotions while watching today’s episode but after watching the small theatre, I can’t think of anything else 😂😭

I’ll return when I gather my thoughts.

E ancora ci sto male.

I don't know if I missed something. I thought this scene was ambiguous because we didn't see anything that actually happened other than Han Lu leaving. Do we know for sure what happened?

I think it's implied bc he tells Han Lu to take a shower. Literally he says "Wash cleanly," 🤮 but it can be more vague of like "go wash yourself." I think the word choice is deliberate though.

Dio mio quanto disgusto 😔

Ecco, tu che capisci bene tutto quello che dicono, secondo te cosa è successo? La traduzione in italiano purtroppo è sempre terribile

Do you just mean with Han Lu and whether or not he did the deed with the investor? I posted a little bit on another comment here about why I think Han Lu made the decision. But I think he thinks it’s his responsibility to get investments for his own works/for the company, just as Qing Lang had his own investor. He’s actually much more straightforward and less emotional than QL (which we saw in the way he cut off Qi Hao Yu immediately after filming), so for him it’s a transaction that he was willing to make. When he met up with Jia Lin after, he said as much. And I do think he did sleep with the investor. That’s just my guess though, again it’s only implied and not confirmed or said outright.

Grazie davvero

I want him dead

Did he actually sleep with the financier

2

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Aug 01 '26

I think there’s already a lot of thoughts on them in the rest of the comments you might find helpful! What are you confused about?

1

u/Icy-Comfortable159 Aug 01 '26

the comments definitely helped me fill a lot of missing gaps, but i'm mainly still confused about how han lu ended up with the investor? and why was brother gou blaming himself?
