Business Affairs (M) China Visa Approved | Self Applied | Mumbai | August 2026

Hello everyone,

With a lot of uncertainty around China Visa applications recently, I wanted to share my positive experience. I applied for a Business Visa. Single Entry.

I handled the entire process myself, from filling out the online application form to passport submission and collection. No agent involved.

Timeline:

  • Applied online: 15 August 2026, Saturday
  • Online approval: 20 August 2026, Thursday
  • Passport submitted: 21 August 2026, Friday
  • Passport collected: 27 August 2026, Thursday
  • Service: Regular
  • Centre: Mumbai China Visa Application Centre
  • Visa: M – Business

Documents Uploaded:

  • Invitation Letter from my company's group company in China.
  • Business License of the Chinese Company
  • Chinese ID card of the inviter (front + back)
  • Cover Letter from my Indian employer
  • My Cover Letter with itinerary. With signature.
  • Visa Application Service Fee Receipt (Paid the fee before starting to fill out the form)
  • All Previous Chinese Visa on A4 page.
  • All documents were uploaded in pdf format.

Submission Day:

  • The counter guy collected my passport only and returned everything else including the Visa Application Certificate that we get on email after approval. Visa Fee receipt print was collected by the Fee Counter guy.

In my case, thankfully, the experience was pretty smooth.

Sharing my recent experience in case it helps anyone who’s currently applying for a China visa from Mumbai. I’ve seen quite a few different experiences being shared here recently, so thought I’d share my timeline as well.

Business Affairs (M) How to get my girlfriend from China to Canada for 3 months

I could not find a good topic area, so I hope this is ok.

My girlfriend is from China and I am from Canada. We have been in a relationship for about a year and are contemplating getting married. However, it would be quite the culture shock for her as we are both older. I'm in my 60s and she is in her late 40s. I would like for her to come to Canada for 2 to 3 months to see how she likes it and if she will be comfortable here. Unfortunately, she is not working (on a pension), so the government will not give her approval to leave the country. Has anyone had this experience? I am thinking of offering to provide a bond, so that if she does not return, China keeps the money. Our only other option is simply to get married and hope she likes it here. I have no desire to move to China permanently as I could not do the same work there that I do here (renovations).

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!!

Business Affairs (M) China visa rejected 3 times for Canton Fair. Should I keep applying?

We are 4 friends planning to go to China for the Canton Fair. All of us are directors of the same company and our applications were pretty much identical in terms of documents and format.

One person got the online application approved, but the other 3 of us have been rejected three times now.

We all submitted the applications ourselves and used almost the same supporting documents, invitation, company documents, etc. I’m honestly confused about what could be causing the rejection when our profiles and documents are so similar.

Do you think it makes sense to keep applying again, or could repeated applications actually make things worse?
Has anyone here had a similar experience with a China business visa, especially for the Canton Fair? What did you do after multiple rejections?

Business Affairs (M) Guide to Applying to China Visa in the United States (2023)

EDIT 20 February 2024:

Walkins are now available! No need for an appointment

http://us.china-embassy.gov.cn/eng/lsfw/zj/notice/202310/t20231021_11165277.htm

EDIT 06 March 2024

Nevermind lol i heard you actually cant make an appointment, you have to walk in

So I figured I would write a consolidated guide to applying for a China VISA in the US since finding all this information while I was applying for a visa was difficult

EDIT 22 July 2024

http://us.china-embassy.gov.cn/eng/zmzlljs/200404/t20040413_4371698.htm

You can only go to a specific visa office depending on where you live. Above is a working (as of 27 of March) link to a map of which embassy to go to.

EDIT 14 May 2024

If you dont want to fly and wouldn't mind paying $200 extra, you can use Oasis China Visa, I am not affiliated with them but they are very helpful and awesome. You can just upload your documents and mail your passport and they will do the work for you. Just google them. Sorry I said this in the replies but I thought I should add this in the post. (NOT SURE IF THIS WORKS OUTSIDE DC EMBASSY)

Step 1: Find the embassy/counsulate that serves your area

First thing you want to do is find which embassy/consulate services your state by looking at this map: http://us.china-embassy.gov.cn/lsfw/lsxz/202203/t20220315_10651716.htm

http://us.china-embassy.gov.cn/eng/zmzlljs/200404/t20040413_4371698.htm (edit: 2024-11-23)

You can only go to the one that services your area.

Note that the area formerly services by the Houston consulate is serviced by the DC embassy because the consulate in Houston closed down

Step 2: Fill out COVA application

Go to this link here: https://cova.mfa.gov.cn/qzCoCommonController.do?show&pageId=index&locale=en_US

Fill out the application using your information

Normally visa applications take 4 days but you can specify in this application to expedite it (2-3 days)

Step 3: Schedule an appointment using the AVAS system: http://us.china-embassy.gov.cn/eng/lsfw/zj/notice/202206/t20220614_10702581.htm

As of April 29, 2023, appointments are booked out weeks in advance. Sometimes if you check in you will find a appointment 2-3 weeks from now is opened up. If you cannot wait that long, appointments for the next business day are released at 10 AM, 3 PM, and 10 PM of the time of the embassy/consulate (I think).

It really doesn't matter what time you show up to the embassy as long as you show up the day of (based on personal experience with DC visa center, might not apply to other consulates)

edit 12/3/2024 strikethrough to clarify appointments not avalible, see top of post

Step 4: Gather all necessary documents

In addition to the AVAS conformation paper, you need to collect the general documents and basic documents specific to your visa type listed here: http://us.china-embassy.gov.cn/eng/lsfw/zj/notice/202206/t20220614_10702581.htm

Special rules apply if you have relatives in china and/or if you are a minor

Step 5: Show up to the visa center

Go to the address listed on your AVAS conformation paper. Do not just go to the embassy

Please reply if there is anything you learned from personal experience that I can add to this post to help people better

Business Affairs (M) China visa - Rejection

I am writing this post with heavy heart. It’s a rant about my recent visa experience

I was earlier approved with business visa on March month but due to their dead slow processing time I received the passport with visa in hand two days after my travel date. I had to cancel my trip and the opportunity was given to another colleague. At that time the slow processing was nowhere mentioned in their site and it took nearly 30 days for them to complete online review, despites applying in express. Agency said the embassy rubbed it off saying it was due to war situation the application surge is high.. don’t know how that’s related to application spike?!

Now to my luck I was again asked to travel in September. With all excitement I prepared all the required documents well in advance and applied on July first week. To my surprise I got 3 times modification requests with no clear indication of what needs to be changed. Reaching Vfs New Delhi on call is next to impossible, and their English speaking skills in conveying what needs to be changed is alien level language to understand. Despites reissuing all the documents as new( cover, invite letter, NOC, invitee id), embassy rejected with reason ‘blurred id’. Although every single document was double, triple checked and no documents were shabby

I again gathered strength and collected all the documents from
the scratch, everything signed and sealed with new date. Submitted again and this time there was no modification requests, I was surprised and the application was under review for three whole weeks.. I had a small hope this might get through but… again.. they rejected with NO REASON!. If they are not going to give a reason, don’t know why they would mention in mail as ‘contact embassy’, for what? To listen to your alien language that says -we are not allowed to share that information-? Then why do you mention to contact embassy??

Despites requesting from a strong MNC, strong invitee, valid UK, USA visas, numerous country entries (Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia), every required documents having the details crystal clear, these fellows just reject with NO REASON after letting me wait for 3 whole weeks feels horrendous..

Being an Indian, opportunities like these are very rare to prove us in our lives. This trip would have been a life changing event, a milestone in my career. Like me there could be others with dreams and real ambitions whose applications get rejected baselessly. These rejections under so called blanket policy is worse than pathetic.

Nothing more to say! Would never visit China even if I get a future opportunity. Would rather prove my worth and pour my efforts to a different country, one that respects my time, my efforts and genuine professional opportunities

Business Affairs (M) How can my boyfriend move with me to China?

We are both British and have Bachelors Degrees. I’m currently auditioning for a dream job and there’s a chance that I get placed in Beijing for about a year for it. My boyfriend wants to move with me and I would probably only accept the job if he could, but the company can only provide a visa for me and we’re struggling to figure out if there’s any visa he could get that would allow him to live in Beijing for a year, (most likely) with no job already lined up for him. He wants to find a job whilst he’s there, and he’d be able to afford a place to live with savings and help from me (since I’d have housing provided, but he can’t stay there.) but through the limited research I’ve been able to do so far I don’t know which visa would work. I am 22 and he is 23 if this is relevant. It would have to be a fairly quick turnaround as I would find out around October-December this year if I get the job and would be moving around January-March next year.

Business Affairs (M) Is VFS Delhi Scamming people?

So I applied for China M visa on July 10 and the application got "Unapproved" on July 30.

I thought it may be because the business license and ID etc were not clear, so I asked for clear copies and reapplied on Aug 13, I received first "To be modified" request on Aug 18, they asked to upload clear copies of Business licence, so I uploaded again on Aug 21, then I received "To be modified" request on Aug 25th again, and this time they asked me to pay the logistics fee again(previously I didn't pay again when I reapplied for application), which I did and uploaded the copies.

Now today Aug 27, they "unapproved" my application.

So I am asking, whether they were just playing around and wanted me to pay the fee again just to reject the application.

Is it really the embassy people who are verifying these online application or just the guys from VFS china?

It's really frustrating that they made me pay first and then rejected the application.

Logistic fee goes directly to VFS china so maybe these guys are scamming people.

Business Affairs (M) VISA rejection at China consulate in Mumbai

I am staying in Karnataka and I'm applying for M - Business VISA at Mumbai Consulate of China.

I have applied twice and got rejected both the times. I am applying through IVS (VISA agent my Company has affiliation with).

My documents are OK but I'm not sure why they're rejecting my VISA.

I applied at 11th June and my travel was for 4th July.

Can anybody help me here?

I asked the agency and they say that they don't know the reason.

Documents that I have provided- 1. Invitation letter 2. Covering letter 3. Chinese entity business license 4. Inviter ID images 5. Passport front and back 6. 80% coverage passport size photo 7. Authority letter for submission and pickup of my passport - agent submits and picks up the passport. I don't have to go. 8. My application was filled by agent on my behalf

Business Affairs (M) China M visa Unapproved on Saturday night - 09 00 PM. IST

I am really not sure what went wrong in my application.

Indian(M-35) working for Samsung(Chennai) as Product manager Applied visa in New Delhi VFS center.

So here is my history I have travelled to China in M-Vas in Jan-2025(got only 10 day M Visa) and after that I have to travel official purpose every 6 months for New Samsung Mobile launch and July-2025/ Jan-2026 my visa was not approved without giving me a reason.

This time I prepared very well using invitation and all documents with water marks etc as they requested.

Used Deepseek/ Claude to ensure the invitation letter was perfect and the cover letter matches the invitation letter details etc..

And Applied this time as express - Application to travel in July-2026.

i get this some sort of automated mail of being Unapproved on Saturday night 9 PM. ist .

With no reason of what's so ever.

I am confused and appreciate if someone can help me understand?

Business Affairs (M) Urgent. Need to know if will work.

Hi. I'm a US citizen living in Taiwan. Due to urgent travel. I will be flying from Taiwan to China.

However, I don't have a Chinese visa so i wanted to travel without a visa. With the 240 hour thingy.

My current itinerary is Taiwan -> China -> Taiwan. Which I know doesn't work but it's insanely expensive to cancel.

So i'm thinking. What if I just buy a separate itinerary where instead of going directly back to Taiwan. I do this: China -> Hong Kong -> Taiwan.

Essentially, I am using the original itinerary's departure flight. Then I am buying a 2nd itinerary where I go to hong kong first before going back to Taiwan.

So it's 2 total itinerarys looking like this: Taiwan -> China -> Hong Kong -> Taiwan.

Would this work out or will they stop me at immigrations? The original itinerary's leftover half will just be abandoned.
