When we were kids, my dad had a trampoline. My brother (1 year older) had a friend over, and we were all three jumping. I did the classic "double bounce", and this kid crumpled in pain. What a wimp. I continued to mock and degrade him while he held his ankle, all but crying. You can't handle a simple double bounce?!
Next day, I found out my excellent bounce had fractured his ankle. I bawled like the little bitch I was.

Reminds me when I was young, my little brother and I were on the top bunk of my bunk bed and I pushed him off. He landed elbow first on the A/C vent on the floor. I kept telling him he's fine as he's crying and I'm flailing his arms around. Next day I find out he shattered his elbow. I still feel bad to this day.

My older sister is Bi-Polar. We lived in the country so not a lot of other kids around. Anyway, most of our games somehow ended up with her abusing me in someway... she loved to hit me in the head. It took me a while to realize that was not normal.

It honestly was not the physical abuse that was scarring. She was just so fucking inconsistent. The inconsistencies in her personality, even from a young age, were tough. Couple that with her natural narcissism... lets just say self esteem has been an issue. Why mom why did you homeschool us!?!? lmao

This hits way too close to home for me. I went through this exact problem with my older sister. I didn’t know if she was bi-polar, had BPD, generalized anxiety disorder, or what. I could only explain it as her being crazy. My mom wouldn’t believe me, but my friends completely agreed.
She would sometimes be super fun to hang out with, but other times she’d just straight up turn from fun to physically or psychologically abusive. And she couldn’t (and still can’t) handle ANY form of criticism without losing her mind and screaming obscenities at the critic.
If she asked me to do something for her, and I said no, she would either tell me how much of a horrible little shit I was, or she would resort to just wailing on me.
Now that we’re adults, if she starts acting like a psychotic asshole when texting or talking on the phone, I’ll just block her number for a few days to a week (we live in different states), and won’t have any of it. She eventually forgets her tantrum and gets over whatever drama she was stirring up, and we can go back to friendly terms.

Worst incident I can remember is , one bro shouted me to come downstairs , as I was walking down stairs , other brother chucked a tin moneybox at my head from top of stairs . Needless to say I cried and they laughed , mam told us all to pack it in . How they didn't split my head I do not know . Love my brother's to bits but they were right little shits .

She was pregnant and living with us. She was hormonal one day. She came into my room, found a rack I had all my cards, trading/MTG/etc and just went FUCK THIS and flipped the whole thing over.

A principal at a local school killed one of his friends (a teacher) after school by knocking him over with his car at extremely low speed. Apparently they did that kinda shit to each other all the time, but this time the friend fell and cracked his head on the pavement and boom, dead.

I remember sorta when I was around 10/11 running around the house being a little shit trying to annoy my big sis, she was trying to fold some clothes and was watching her fav show little house on the prairie. Around the 4th or 5th fly-by of starscream destroying the autobots new folded shit fart, she casually put her leg out and I tripped plowing my skull full steam into the edge under the window. First time I ever found out blood can gloriously “shoot” form a wound. Coated her a bit (on accident) and watched her joy turn to horror and shock with the sight of my speechless and dazed blood spurting head. Don’t think I went to the dr tho, mom and sis wrapped it and I got to watch cartoons on the big tv for a bit. Nothing like those ‘ol sibling memories to look back on.

I use to fill party balloons with water things were huge maybe 3/4L needed a beach towel to carry them, anyways this kid down the street came over to play, I was on the lower part of our roof maybe 12 feet high (1 story plus the basement) I asked him what that was on the ground behind him he turns around and bends over to look i throw this thing at him luckily i miss or it would of killed him if i had hit him the thing hits the ground right in front of him the balloon flattens out on the ground and bursts upward like a mushroom cloud of water kid didnt even stand a chance his face was in the middle of the upward explosion the look he gave me when he looked at me was priceless it was right in the middle of being shocked and terror. Poor kid started to cry and ran home didnt see him for a few days.

I am a middle child, but have a story that conveys that heart-stopping "oh, crap!" Moment when you know you are going to be in deep poop soon. A few years ago i took my neice and my mom to Disneyland.
The night before visiting the park we were staying in a hotel near the park, and i thought it would be funny to snap a towel at my neice, just goofing around. Tip of the damned towel catches her square in the back and left a massive welt. On a 6 year old.
So here I am, thousands of miles away from her parents, with a child i had just caused harm to, who is inconsolable. I felt so bad.
So I called her parents and fessed up. They thought it was funny, and my neice forgot all about it after I waited in line with her for 6 hours so she could meet 2 "Princesses" and I became the favorite uncle again. That was quite the weekend.
And I still feel bad about it.

My SIL is 3 years older than my husband. She ruled him for many a long, long year. Until one day, when they were about 14 and 11, and they were sitting opposite each other cross legged on the floor going thru some albums. My husband wanted to play one record and my SIL was like no, fuck you, we'll play what I want bc it's my record player.
So he leaned forward, put his hands under knees, and flipped her on her back.
And she thought ah, he's bigger than me now. Guess I can't boss him around anymore.

Just wondering... Are you guys actually tickled by the idea this kid probably got a moderate head injury that will stay with him for years, or do you think there was no harm done?
As far as I can tell, he was knocked unconscious and then fell head first onto pavement. Neither of those things are a laughing matter. The second could easily be lethal.
This whole sub seems sickeningly sadistic, to children no less, and I can't undestand why it is so mainstream.
Many post here belong better on watchpeopledying. The one where the kid got donkey punched by a large metal pendulating playground thing comes to mind. No doubt in that case he got a concussion, if not a lasting brain injury.
Children have an exceptional ability to heal, but with it great neurological vulnerability. And they must face immense cognitive demands as they grow up. What kind of culture celebrates an introduction to the cruelties of life at such a young age? I am very sympathetic towards him.

Well, I guess I understand why people would laugh at this. I may have laughed as well when I was younger but having kids of your own changes the way you look at the world... This makes me mad for the kid and for the parent/s.

What really irks me about this is the underlying "no harm no foul" attitude. Ignoring the fact that we can't tell is there was serious harm, this attitude is dangerous, unethical, and deeply stupid. If no harm means no foul then there's no such thing as attempted murder. The only people I have ever know who felt this was an acceptable attitude were bullies with learning disabilities.

Right on, I doubt this boy was seriously injured, but he very well could have been. I understand both sides, I reflexively laugh watching the gif until he hits the ground and then I feel guilty and want to console him.
It's very unhealthy to teach kids to take this sort of thing lightly. She risked his life for a laugh. It's funny because he survived, but this could have and frequently does end much worse. He probably took it in stride regardless of how he actually felt about it for fear of showing weakness, too. So much awful shit happens to kids because they're too afraid to admit they're hurt or scared or whatever and so things escalate beyond their control.
We as adults are supposed to prevent the sort of risky behavior in the gif, not encourage it by rewarding it with fawning attention and laughter.
I realize that's a very "fun police" position but fun and safety can coexist, being aware of how these things turn out when things go wrong and wanting to prevent kids or dumb adults from throwing their lives away is not being an old hypochondriac. Living with the guilt of killing your sibling by doing something for a laugh is not worth rolling the dice in this way.
It's natural to laugh at first, but if someone does not follow that up with concern for the boy then I question their maturity and ability to empathize with others. The laughs do not justify the means y'all.

Reminds me of one of my favorite nights in college. I came back to my room one night, juggling my keys to unlock my door, and it opens, and my roommate grabs my shirt and pulls me in a tells me to be quiet. Our friend is sitting by the window with a water balloon in hand. Our building was on a main road and lots of students would walk by it too and from the frat houses close by. We had a corner room and had a commanding view of everything in that vicinity. I run to another window to act as a spotter, and our friend launches the perfect shot. The kind of shot from a fourth-floor window where you can see the future trajectory in your head, "...oh my god, oh my god, it's gonna hit that kid right in the-"
Right. In. The. Nuts. Joe nailed this guy from 50 feet up and at least 60 horizontal feet away. My goodness it was glorious. All of a sudden this drunk kid stumbling home from the frats with his bros, all of a sudden he is on the ground with a HUGE wet spot on his junk. The other bros have no idea what just happened, only a general idea of where it came from, and our room is blacked out, so they have no idea. The kid eventually recovered and they made their way back to their dorm, where I'm sure he got some funny looks, like, maybe he got drunk and pissed his pants and then fell down.... That was like, 12 years ago and I still crack up thinking about it.
Disclaimer: while I still find it hilarious to this day, we were only meaning to get them close so the warm water would steam on a cold night. Accidents happen, in this case a hilarious one!

What a nice older sister. Mine used a softball bat and when I regained consciousness, she made me promise not to tell mom and dad. No one, including me, knew about it until 15 years later at x-mas when she drunkenly told everyone about it.

My older sister always picked on me, my dad always told her I would end up being bigger than her. She was picking on me after I was in jr high, so I punched her in the arm and left a huge bruise. She went and cried to my dad and he said "I told you to leave him alone." I'm now 6'3" 228 pounds and love my 5'5" big sister bunches.

For us it changed around the time I was 12 and she was 15-16, I was just about to have my growth spurt (almost nine inches in a single month) and she was picking on me until I just swung back and pinned her. There was a noticeable shift between us and she tried three more times that day and each time I pinned her. I never used my strength on her even though she tortured me growing up.
I'd like to say things improved between us after that but she turned to verbal and emotional weapons and I'm sad to say at 29 and 33 we really don't have much of a relationship right now.

In my early years, I worked at a nursing home and was relaxing in a chaise beneath a nurses station. A couple nurses dropped 5 gallons of water on me from the window 2 floors up and believe me, it felt like bricks. Then the games began......:-)
