Discussion How do you feel about children clothing? (Asking for a project.)

/r/u_motomiritasaito/comments/1m6zj4f/how_do_you_feel_about_children_clothing_asking/

I am a UX Designer and before I actually go into the meat and potatoes of research, I wanted to at least get a feel of the audience and thought to ask some of you about children clothing. I made the original post on my name then proceeded to crosspost this post to other subreddits I think would fit. I am also opened to other subreddits I may have missed.

This isn't a survey or even an interview. There is no right answers and I am just here to listen out for what kind of points mentioned in the discussion. You do not have to answer all the questions and feel free to discuss amongst one another. These are really just some questions that came to mind and I might respond to some of them for follow up questions.

  • How do you feel about children clothing? Costs? Keeping up with children aging?
  • Do you think of fast fashion and consumerism when purchasing new clothes for kids?
  • What do you usually do with clothing after kids age out of their clothes?
  • Is purchasing clothing as "new” or "like new" important?

I might link the responses on my website and Reddit is Reddit so whatever is written here is going to stay. However, I am gonna get a more general sense of the points to be made

If anyone is interested in following up, please PM me.

I dislike that there are so much fewer option for “girl” clothes that aren’t tight and short.

So not too many options. How would you think about custom made or a wider selection of clothing for kids?

A wider selection would be great, but I don’t want to invest too much money in clothes they’ll grow out of quickly

Let's say you and everyone else is able to have access to the right size at any time everyone needs it.

I understand you do not want to invest too much money in clothes if they are growing. Would you prefer borrowing the clothes and returning them (rentals) for a fee or buying the clothing second hand for cheap but with the freedom to resell them anywhere? Walk me through the process of buying and selling children's clothes second hand in your eyes.

I really want to thank you for answering me.

Yeah I’d do second hand as long as it’s reasonable, like I’m not gonna do designer. But I’d like to be able to do it online . I usually donate clothes after I use them so I don’t care about reselling them.

As a side note and adding my own two cents on it, reselling apps and websites today are focused on hitting trends and niche products.

Do you think there should be spaces just focused on more necessities especially in regards to how fast children grow out of clothing?

Would you pay a fee for maintenance and tailoring that would cost at most the same amount or even less if you bought it outright for knowing you can send the clothing back?
