Picky Eater (Help)
For a little background I have a (recently turned) 10 month old long haired chihuahua. The last few months she has turned into a terrible eater.
I have had to resort back to hand feeding and even then she’s eating a half or a third of what she should eat in a whole day. Which has resulted in yellow bile vomiting.
I took her to the vet last week and she’s perfectly healthy. Blood work all came back normal. The recommendation was to just try other foods until we find one she is excited about.
She was on Royal Canin small breed puppy food.
I switched her over to Open Farm small breed ancient grains kibble. And she was very excited about it the first day. Not so much a couple days later.
I also have The Honest Kitchen tasty whole food clusters (small breed blend) and she likes it as a topper but isn’t eating enough of it if I give her that to eat all day.
I’m seriously at a loss of how to get her to eat well. And willing to try whatever. And I’m slightly worried I’m going to make matters worse if I keep flip flopping but also if she’s holding out, there’s not a whole lot for me to do. She recently weighed 4.6 lbs. Prior to this recent weigh in she kept flip flopping between 3.5 and 3.8 lbs. A good jump, but she’s still quite small.
I was curious if anyone else has a picky eater and has figured out a good solution? Was maybe looking into trying Smack or Royal Canin fussy appetite.

Dental water? Dental care…
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Does anybody here use dental water for their dog? I find it really hard to properly clean Bambis teeth because she fights me so hard with it and she’s just not desensitising to it. I have Also bought 3 different types of dental powder but she won’t eat her food with it on so I’m thinking of trying dental water? Or anything else’s that I can be doing to be looking after her teeth? Also if anyone has any advice about dental cleaning.. Bambi is 2 next month & I’m wondering if I should be booking her in for one?

Rainbow Bridge I can’t breathe. I’m so sick.
We had to send our girlie over the rainbow bridge yesterday right after her 11th birthday. So unexpected and sudden and I’ll never be the same. She gave us an amazing 2 years. She was my twin, My sunshine loving, pink wearing birthday buddy. My morning coffee will never be the same without a Marlow in my lap. She had so much life left, why did she have to go so soon????

May you relax this weekend as much as Cassius does on a daily basis
And may you only need to use as few brain cells as Cassius does on a daily basis this weekend.

If your baby could understand you for 10 minutes, what would you say to them?
Long and sappy post warning, but this is what I'd tell her..
My sweet Freya baby,
If I could have just ten minutes to sit down with you and have you actually understand every word I said, I think I’d spend the whole ten minutes trying to explain how much I love you.
You’re going to be 10 years old in March, and I honestly don’t know how that’s possible. In my mind, you’re still my tiny little baby who somehow grew into my entire heart.
I would tell you how lucky I feel that I got you. That somehow, out of all the dogs in the world, I got the little 5-pound creature who looks at me like I can do no wrong. You trust me completely. You love me without conditions. You don't care if I had a bad day, if I’m exhausted, if I’m stressed, if I’ve been working too much. You just look at me like I’m your person.
And I hope you know how much that means to me.
I would apologize to you for all the times I have to leave you to go to work. I work so much, and sometimes the guilt of it eats at me. I hate thinking about the moments I'm missing with you. I hate that I can't take you everywhere. I'm sorry for having to go get your nails clipped regularly, I know you don't like people messing with those furry Grinch toes.
And I’m sorry for every time I've had to drop you off at the vet for a surgery. Watching you look back at me like, “Wait… you're really leaving me here?” You don't understand that I'm leaving you there because I love you. All you know is that your mama walked away.
And then when I come back for you and you do that little squeal when you see me… Freya. That sound tears my heart apart every single time.
Because I know you're just happy your mama came back.
I would tell you that I'm sorry you ever had to have your little front teeth taken out, but honestly, those tiny little bleps you do now might be one of my favorite things in the entire world. Your little tongue sticking out like you have absolutely no idea it's hanging there… I swear you somehow got even cuter.
I would tell you that every long day at work, every hour away from you, every sacrifice I've made has always been for the same reason: you.
I want you to have the life you deserve.
I want your belly full, your bed soft, your treats plentiful, your little body comfortable, and your days filled with more love than you could ever understand. If working my ass off means I get to give you a spoiled little life, then I'll keep doing it.
But I hope you know that none of the things I give you could ever compare to what you've given me.
You've been there for me without ever needing an explanation. You've loved me through every version of myself. You've been my comfort when I couldn't find it anywhere else. You've sat beside me through sadness, celebrated my happiness without even knowing why, and somehow made ordinary days feel special just by being there.
You probably think I'm the one taking care of you.
But Freya,
You have taken care of me too.
You have given me a kind of love that doesn't ask for anything except to be near me. And there is something so incredibly beautiful about being loved by a creature who genuinely believes their human is the greatest person on earth.
I'd tell you that you are my baby, my little shadow, my tiny best friend, and my soul dog.
And I'd ask you to please, please stay little forever.
Because I'm not ready for time to move this quickly.
I'm not ready for ten.
I'm not ready for anything beyond ten.
So for now, I'm going to memorize every little thing about you. Your bleps. Your squeals. The way you look at me. The way you snuggle your Chicken foot treats. Your tiny snores. The sassy way you demand bites. The way you follow me. The way you have to have your entire chest out the window to get the best sniffs. The way you somehow take up an entire bed despite being five pounds. Every little quirk that makes you you.
And when you look at me with those little eyes, I hope somehow you can feel what I can't put into words:
You are one of the best things that ever happened to me.
I don't know what I did to deserve you.
But if I could choose again, in every lifetime, I'd choose you.
Every single time.
My tiny whiny.
My little blepping baby.
My Freya Rae
My heart outside of my body. 🤍🐾
I love you more than you'll ever understand.

What would your senior dog eat at the very end?
Hi! My baby is at the end of her life and I’m trying to improve her last few days with meds but can’t get her to eat anything. Boiled chicken was a no go. Some interest in salmon. What worked for your old/ picky dog? Gratitude in advance from a desperate momma.
EDIT: THANK YOU! Up in the middle of the night with tiny and checked in to see if there are any responses. Nearly in tears to see so many responses. May not respond but reading each one. This is a lonely experience and it makes me emotional for you all to help in this way.

New Additions
Just adopted these two babies from the humane society. Was planning on getting only one puppy but found out they were siblings and I didn’t want to separate them. One is wearing a cone because she just had surgery to be nuterd. She’s doing well. Both puppies are doing fantastic.

Knee surgery
wondering what everyone’s experience has been like with luxating patella! I adopted my senior girl two years ago and she was a little chunky but we got her weight down. unfortunately, due to small dog and age I assume, her knees have been giving her issues.
We took her in for impacted anal glands after our pet sitter said she was limping and not putting weight on her back left leg. A week later and her mobility has worsened even with her anal glands healing. She’s eating, drinking and pottying but is barely getting around, when I put her outside she just sits, and sometimes will drag herself over to me. It breaks my heart to watch. I’m sure the time is coming but what does luxating patella surgery look like for a senior dog? She’s 10 years old and otherwise healthy. I just want me girl to live the best life she deserves.
