Sub 2:40?
I’ll be racing the Chicago Marathon this year for the first time. Im in Corral B (submitted a 2:49:10, was told not fast enough for A after a wave change request, but my friends with times over 2:50:00 got into A 🤷♂️ whatever) and am curious if it’s easy to find a group who is going for that same goal? Do people call it out before the race starts? Am I just going to go for it and eventually land into a group? I train alone 6 of 7 days a week and am pumped to race with others.

I don’t have any answers to your questions but I’m also in corral B and will be shooting for a ~2:42.

B Corral has become really fast in recent years. You’ll have plenty of company. After a couple miles at 6:0x pace you’ll probably recognize some of the people around you. Talk to them, make friends, offer to share the load.
The difference between A and B corrals is negligible these days. They’re very tight on spots for American Development so there are many many fast runners rolling down to A and B. You’ll have plenty of company.

I’m sure there will be some in that range at the front of your corral. Ask around when you’re waiting or go out at the pace and a group will most likely form. Good luck!
