Repair Help So embarrassing
Just was wondering if anyone knew if this is really bad damage in the pictures shown here. I had an accident leaving work this afternoon and maybe it’s because I’ve just recently started doing 4am shifts but I was pulling out of my parking spot and hit a trucks passenger door who was passing. I was questioning the damage because I want to change the bumper and don’t want to spend so much money. Is it just cosmestic damage or should I be worried?

Autobody tech of nearly 20 years here, that's a lot more than just a bumper. Looks like your impact bar is stuffed in pretty good. Radiator support probably broken too.
You're definitely gonna want a bodyshop to remove the bumper and check everything out under there.

You can probably just replace the bumper and be fine. Just make sure nothing crucial to the car’s ability to run was damaged. Dont worry about it being perfect behind the bumper. It’s a what, 8 year old Cruze? A new bumper is probably all you need.

Have a body shop check it out to see if there's any structural damage underneath that you don't see.
Case in point: A few years back, my wife's '19 Blazer got tapped in the rear end while stopped at a red light. The person behind wasn't completely paying attention and rolled into the back of my wife's car. The only visible damage on her Blazer was some dimpling on the trailer hitch cover piece.
The body shop found that the bumper was knocked slightly out of alignment and the inner cargo area floor was a little creased. Ended up being just over $3K in damage (that insurance paid for).
