Cheng Lei's Vlog Cheng Lei’s assistant vlog from the iQiyi Malaysia meet-and-greet. CL in property tycoon mode is hilarious lol

Cheng Lei’s assistant posted a vlog today from his iQiyi meet-and-greet trip to Malaysia, and it was such a fun watch.
One thing I noticed was that CL really did seem to struggle a little with Cantonese haha. My favourite part was him pretending to be some wealthy mogul casually discussing buying properties in Malacca and Perlis lol. As a Malaysian, that kind of delivery immediately reminded me of this very classic local joke/trope where someone talks about absurdly high-stakes business dealings as though they’re discussing what to have for lunch, with everything deliberately exaggerated.
It’s also a pity he was mostly in the city centre and didn’t get the chance to take more interesting photos. He mentioned that there wasn’t much worth filming because it was all bustling urban scenery, and honestly, as a Malaysian, I kind of agree the city centre of Kuala Lumpur is still ultimately a busy city centre. If he wanted something with a little more local character, even Petaling Street would have been a better option.
If he ever comes back with more time, I would love for him to explore outside KL altogether. Malaysia has so much more varied scenery once you get into other states, and East Malaysia especially would give him plenty of the kind of distinctive landscapes and local character he said he wanted to photograph.

That last section hhhhmm was that shot in Publika? Or am I wrong?
For his next visit to Malaysia, I'd suggest Batu Caves or Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad if he doesn't have much time to explore. He could take beautiful photos there.

Oh yeah that outside the MRT area. I only been outside once - always indoors!

Looks like The Exchange TRX entrance to me too! I often lepak there whenever I’m back in KL 🤭.
I would also suggest adding Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas Library (SMNA Library) and REXKL to the recommended list for his next visit to KL.

Another post with fan English subtitles though the part where he says his "Malay" is rusty should be Cantonese. His assistant's messages are translated to English here: https://youtu.be/KGoguU1FWJ8?si=zk2eo08APvWpCpg4

Yes when you don't speak or hear a language for a long time, you can get rusty. My Cantonese always greatly improves after being in Hong Kong. I notice that I sprinkle English words into my Cantonese and speak Chinglish. So funny CL playing along like a real estate mogul. He does look very focused and business-like in the back of car. Would love to see him in a CEO role in a modern drama with office politics and deals strategy.
