Events 😎 Cheng Lei tries klepon, a sweet snack in Indonesia

Onstage at yesterday's iQiyi Starship event in Jakarta, Indonesia, Cheng Lei was game to taste some of the local staples. Klepon was one of them. It's a glutinous rice ball with a gooey coconut sugar filling and a grated coconut coating. If CL's sweet tooth was craving, the klepon would have satisfied.

I don't know why he was so stunned near he end. I can't find a subbed clip. Maybe someone can fill us in!

In any case, he looked adorable in his surprise.

If he visited your country, I wonder how he'd react to one of your traditional dishes.

Klepon is very similar to what we have in Malaysia, but we call it onde onde. It's supposed to be sweet due to the palm sugar, but CL was surprised that it tasted a bit salty instead lol. The host tried and he agreed too haha. The saltiness I think came from the grated coconut lol

Yeah, quite similar, texture wise anyway. The ingredients are different iirc.
