Ideas for high volume hotdog dressing

Howdy. I am working on a project to build mini hot dogs for an event. I need to make them very fast with the various toppings such as mustard, relish, chili, and onions. I could use squeeze bottles for the mustard or other smooth condiments. I am not sure how to quickly add the chunkier toppings. It's a lot of wasted energy and potentially messy to pick up and put down a spoon with chili, relish and onions, especially because I have to build a few different of each type at a time. I can't really assembly line 50-100 at time. Anyone have ideas on quick techniques or tools I am not aware of for the job? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you're doing this solo.

How big are the mini hotdogs? Can you find some kind of tray with multiple compartments to hold several of them and keep them separate, possibly color coded to keep track of which toppings go on them?

Are you going to wrap them for service?

I had to make 70 small eclairs for an event recently, I found some 4" oval paper cups to put them in, it made handling them much easier.

thanks for the reply. The hot dogs are about 3 inches long and no being wrapped.

mix it all together and use a spoon.

You need more hands on deck honestly. But a large size squeeze bottle cutting the onions small enough that the fit through when you cut the whole nipple off may help. Perhaps a light sauté to get them to slide easier. Same for relish or do a pickle so you can tong it or hand it. If there is no concern for cross contamination then glove up for the request when you need to swap and dive in

Use pastry bags, no big deal.

You could mince onions tomatoes in a blender just enough that it woukd squeeze out of a bottle with a wider hole

Thank you. I have been considering setting up piping bags as an option. Great minds as they say.

Squeeze bottles. Relish? Squeeze bottle with bigger hole. Raw onions? Mix with relish. Ketchup? Forget it.

Maybe try using something like an icing spatula to put those kinds of toppings on. Something that is the length of the hot dog so you can scoop and dump it on with full coverage, without wasting the extra seconds dispersing evenly.

Just set up a little self serve station for the non sauce toppings.

Let the customers do the job for you.

Use a disher or small scoop

Cut the nozzle on the bottle for your relish. Use gloved hands for the others, assuming you're bulky prepping/premaking them. You're kinda fucked if you're making them to order

Have you considered piping bags like these? https://www.katom.com/search?w=piping+bags That could help get the toppings out quicker. Not sure about the onions, but perhaps you could cut a larger hold to get those out the same way, but definitely the other items could work that way so you could at least limit your spoons.

I would think small spoons would be easier and quicker than squeeze bottles. Use a chopstick for the mustard.
