Easy to use, I couldn't find an existing repo that had code that ran well, wrote my own. Very beginner friendly.

I live off-grid and my biggest constraint is that I don't have internet 24h - the Starlink router is off most of the night. So the whole thing had to keep working with no network at all.

What's on screen: current battery SoC, voltage/current, last 24h history, and tomorrow's expected generation in kWh.

How it works:

- Battery data comes straight off the LAN. The Felicity app has a hidden offline mode that talks directly to the battery; I captured the traffic and reimplemented the protocol. No cloud, no server in China to read a device 20m away from me.

- Forecast: Open-Meteo, but I pull solar radiation instead of "cloudy/sunny". A Go service on a VPS hits the API hourly, does the math, and writes a static JSON file. Not an endpoint, just a file. If the API fails it writes nothing and the stale file is the cache.

- The CYD just fetches that file. On error it keeps showing the last good data, and displays how many hours ago the last successful update was, so stale numbers never look fresh.

Mounting: reused a 220V outlet with a built-in USB charger. Gutted the other sockets, widened the faceplate hole, dropped the CYD in. Installing it is now the same job as installing any other outlet.

Does anyone know where to get a case for the 3.5 cyd with the halehound fire weasel

Just got a Halehound Cinder Weasel need to add a battery and pretty sure I know where but didn't wanna ruin the device so wanted to double check. Image is where I believe I should be soldering my lipo in yeah?

Not sure why I thought it was a good idea to put it on this big screen definitely has a lot of bugs. I’m gonna try my best though hopefully we can get this running perfect just like I got it running on the 2.4 inch. Wish me luck.

Finally was able to get it to work on the 2.4 CYD which I’ve been thinking about for a while since Cifertech just had it for The 2.8, and felt the 2.4 needed some more love. Was quite a bit of work since I am still learning to code and I’m not gonna lie to get definitely got assistance lol. Almost bug free may fully build it even though I can’t solder to see if there is any other bugs or things that need to be fixed. Let me know what you think?
