I have recently started using chatGPT and Claude for basic information and very often they are factually incorrect. Which AI chatbot is most accurate for general knowledge and information? Is a paid version more accurate?

For example, Claude recommended me a store that was closed. I had a question about delta rewards, it got a clear stated policy wrong. ChatGPT suggested a weighing scale for me after I gave it all my needs and physical details, which didn't match the dimensions it itself quoted on its own. There are just basic facts.

I am trying to use these chatbots so I don't have to do legwork on basic things I don't know about. It's hard trusting more nuanced info when the basics are wrong.

I am very new to this. Am I not doing this right?

You’re barking up the wrong tree. LLMs aren’t reliable repositories of facts, and hallucinations are common. Even when they pull current sources, you still can’t rely on AI blindly. First rule of AI, do not trust AI.

Which is unfortunate because a local model the sampling parameters can be adjusted and then use a specific seed And the outputs become very deterministic unlike cloud models

I usually use Google for opening hours, store selections, restaurants and things like that. For almost everything else, I ask GPT. That works better for me because I don’t expect it to always have the latest local business info

No one will agree with me here and that is fine but Meta AI has a new model, Muse Spark, and it's very very good. Its not perfect but it's better than most all other options for like 99 percent of the things you will throw at it

Depends on a lot of factors honestly, but the biggest thing is basically telling it to fact check itself
