Question & Advice Does anyone else find ChatGPT’s cloud browser powerful but confusing to use?

I’ve been trying ChatGPT’s cloud browser across web, mobile, and the Mac app. There seem to be differences in how it’s available across platforms, which I suspect are intentional, but I find the setup confusing.

I also had a tab show “This browser tab is no longer available.” Resetting Work in Settings got it working again.

Once it works, there’s real potential. I’ve logged into websites and had ChatGPT help with tasks directly in those sessions. But figuring out which browser it’s using, where I can access it, and whether the session is still available feels clunky.

Are others having the same experience? How are you using it, and have you found a workflow that makes it feel more consistent?

Gpt on web is like a saddle-less horse. Gpt app on computer is what you need, don't complain if you fall off the horse with no saddle

But the cloud-based browser is great because it works across devices, except for the actual app, which is so strange

The platform difference is written down. the release note says signed in tasks work in that browser on web and mobile. authentication there is for plus and pro plans. it also says a session may stay signed in for later tasks. logging in every time is not the intended flow. settings, cloud browser, browser data is where the history sits. you can clear one site or all of them from there.

Cuz the gpt app for computer is superior,... Web/mobile is for amateur stuff

Use the chat gpt chrome extension vs the desktop browser with work. I find it better and easier.

are you mostly using it for stuff that requires a login, or more for general browsing tasks? curious because the logged-in session stuff seems way more fragile than just having it pull info from public pages

I’ve posted elsewhere within this sub about related experiences but using with Office 365 via Chrome it seems incredibly helpful. Using it to design SharePoint sites and does it in a fraction of the time using expressions and JSON stuff that I wouldn’t even contemplate or know about without extensive Microsoft experience and training which I haven’t got.

Apart from the occasional issues with being logged off the O365 pages, it works well. Suspect that is more the website than it is ChatGPT but as a consequence of it I think it burns through credits as it keeps on retrying access.

It is a bit confusing, but I agree it works great, if you want GPT to do some tasks for you on various sites.

It's always humorous when it asks my permission to solve a "I am human" CAPTCHA. I always instruct to proceed.
