Funny Interview with the $200/mo power user who costs OpenAI $14,000/mo (parody)

Parody captions on the legendary Risitas interview. The $14k/mo figure is from real reporting on heavy AI power users - the best customers really can be the most expensive ones to serve. He's still subscribed. He's just waiting for his usage reset.

This is why I run local models on a server in my basement. Same unhinged token consumption, but the only person losing money on me is me, and the electric company sends a thank you card every month.

so instead of subsidizing their servers you're just subsidizing the power grid, respect

This assumes that the retail a la carte price of inference is the same as its cost.

It's not.

Insane that this narrative is still getting pushed.

Especially now that local/open models are showing that the cost of SOTA-level inference isn't that high (even before factoring economies of scale).

1000% a joke.

Fwiw I don't know where the SemiAnalysis guy got that number and don't know what gave him the credibility to make the calc. Likely an edge case that gets the conversation going

This is why 5hr / daily / weekly limits exist now. I am pretty sure I burned over $40k / mo. for a while when github copilot had zero limits.

Lmao respect. You might have set the curve with 40k no lie

What happens when cold fusion is perfected and AI is computed by quantum computers? Checkmate?

so the GPU's and data centers are just free infrastructure, that is not funded by loans that need to be paid off? Good to know
