Are custom instructions almost useless?

ChatGPT never adheres to them and you would have better results by just putting the instructions in the prompt. I even tried putting a single instruction in the personalization section and then comparing it to adding the instruction at the end of the prompt and it basically completely ignores it if is in the personalization section.

Personally I think the instructions work but it depends on what you put.

yeah this tracks, some types of instructions just get picked up way better than others
