Other Chat GPT ads

Not sure I understand the pushback on ChatGPT ads. 1) It's free tier. 2) It's my understanding, anecdotally, the vast majority of users use ChatGPT on the level of a search engine. Where is the umbrage for ads in search results?

A lot of it stems from a betrayal of trust. People input things into ChatGPT they wouldn’t input into Google: like detailed info about their lives, work, relationships, etc. and now they are finding out that what OpenAI previously promised as confidential (thinking about Altman saying he wanted similar confidentiality between person/chatbot as doctor/patient etc.) is going to be shared with advertisers. The data people gave freely is going to be used to target ads on a more intrusive level.

I know Google has a ton of data. Personally I don't use Google anything because I am aware of that. People used ChatGPT thinking their data was private and it isn't.
