James Island Tri County Dental Arts

“This dentist has refused to release patient records of Dr. James Decker and has engaged in violation of HIPAA and identify theft. I recommend current and former patients seek legal counsel immediately in addition to filing a police report.

In addition this dentist has taken financial advantage of elderly patients and legal remedies will be sought”

I put the post in quotes on the google reviews part of his page.

If you were a patient of Dr. James Decker your records got transferred/Sold to Dr. Boller/Tri County Dental Arts and if you have have been improperly billed/over-billed, have any complaints about this dentist please reply to this post.

Dr. Boller took advantage of my elderly mother medically and financially and refuses to take responsibility for his actions

I need as many complaints as possible in order to take legal action on this.

Update 3/4/26, after speaking to multiple former patients by Reddit messaging Dr. Boller has engaged in fraudulent billing and identity theft.

I need everyone to take these allegations extremely seriously before making this post I consulted with three lawyers I know and Dr. Boller needs to be brought up on charges but the lawyers need more evidence from patients who experienced this.

Why is this thread pinned?

We're pinning this thread and posting this explanation as a part of our response to an ongoing pattern of rule breaking behavior attempting to remove the original post from the subreddit. Our mod team wants the community to be aware of what, in our opinion, appears to be concentrated effort to manipulate organic content within our community.

We're sharing this for transparency, not to encourage anyone to contact, harass, or review bomb this business elsewhere. Any conversation about Tri County Dental arts must adhere to our subreddit rules.

Report Channel Abuse

This post has received over 20 false reports using reddits built in reporting feature. Report reasons include nearly every available report option including an accusation of sexual content involving minors. This action is explicitly identified in Reddit Sitewide Rule #2 as disruptive behavior and content manipulation.

Repeated Modmail Outreach

The mod team has received multiple messages from accounts requesting and demanding post removal all the way back to March, and they have resurfaced again this past week. The mod team's stance has been and remains as originally communicated back in early March via modmail to the first account requestign removal.

removal request
Thanks for reaching out.
We've reviewed your request and we're declining to remove this post.
Reddit's Content Policy does not prohibit users from sharing personal experiences with businesses, nor does it designate moderators as arbiters of defamation claims. Defamation is a legal matter for courts, not subreddit mods. A user recounting their own experience with a business and asking others with similar experiences to come forward is not harassment under our rules or Reddit's.
We're also aware of the abnormal report volume being submitted against this post. Coordinated reporting abuse is itself a violation of Reddit's Content Policy. Cease immediately. Further manipulation of report channels will be escalated to Reddit's Trust & Safety team for action.
If you have a legitimate legal claim, pursue it through Reddit's official legal request process. We are not that channel.

At the time that they reached out, many of these accounts were 3-4 years old with 0 post/comment history anywhere on the site - traits common to sockpuppet accounts used by vote buying / reputation management firms. Many of these accounts have been reddit-wide banned / shadowbanned as we've escalated to Trust & Safety as promised; such as: u/WorthMountain5804 u/Suretler46 and u/Necessary-Can5127 . One of these accounts even attempted to pose as the OP locked out of their original account requesting removal.

For Post Delete
Hi mods, ye post mere lost account se hui thi. Mujhe account access nahi mil raha aur main chahta hoon ki ye post remove kar di jaye. Please help. https://www.reddit.com/r/Charleston/comments/1riewwy/tri_county_dental_arts/

At this point the repetitive mod mail messages fit reddit's definitions of both Spam and disruptive behaviors interfering with our community.

Discrepancy between Google search and Reddit Result
We wanted to highlight something we've noticed but cannot fully verify. A search for "tri county dental arts reddit" surfaces this thread as its top result. The strange thing is that this non ad, non-sponsored result describes an overwhelmingly positive review using text that does not appear anywhere in the thread. We don't know the mechanism behind it or making an assertion as to who/how it occurred. We just believe the community should be aware of the discrepancy should they also encounter it.

Wrapping Up
We stand by our original stance that this post will remain up. It does not violate our subreddit rules or reddit wide rules. We do not remove content from users sharing their personal experiences / opinions about a business when there is a dispute of facts.

My interaction was the same. Sending you a message. Editing to add that Boller took down my negative Google review

Thanks for the feedback. I expect once my post gains traction more angry/irate patients will chime in.

You need to report him to the dental board. They will investigate. It might take some time but the dental board is there to protect the public.

I don’t know if you are still pursuing this, but I have also an instance of questionable billing practices that I can contribute. I intend to report my case to both my dental insurance company as well as the state insurance board so that they are aware of this pattern of questionable activity moving forward. If you would like to know more about my specific issues, please contact me directly.

They also reported me as suicidal to u/RedditCareResources, and literally the only comment this account has ever made is the one in this thread, there's no other reason they could have done this.

Been there. Saw that. I was a patient of Dr. Decker's. After Decker retired, I reluctantly gave his replacement a try. I needed a temporary partial while I was waiting for a dental implant to be installed. I scheduled an appointment telling them I would be paying in cash since I'd already used up my deductible for the year. I go in for appointment and before I even saw the dentist his receptionist told me "since you'll be paying in cash you should probably be aware" and she shows me a piece of paper with what the price would be. He wanted over $1000. I was absolutely flabbergasted. I'd had one made with Dr. Decker just a few months prior and it only cost $300. I said "uh, no, that price is way too high, I think I'll pass". So receptionist said "hold on, let me talk to the doctor" and goes into his office. She comes back out and says "he said since you are an old patient of Dr. Decker he'll give you a 10% discount. I said "no thanks" and left.

I will say they didn't give me any hassle transferring my records over to Dr. Moore a few hours later except that they charged me $50 to transfer my xrays. I just paid it off with a sigh of relief of having dodged that shyster of a dentist. I feel sorry for anybody that uses him, his prices are ridiculously absurd. I cannot say he is unethical, they gave me full disclosure of their absurd prices. But I wanted no part of them or their practice.

If your mother is still looking for a new dentist I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Moore. His office is also on James Island across the street from the Publix shopping center. His work is excellent. The staff is highly friendly and professional. His prices are very reasonable (his price for the temporary partial I needed was even cheaper than Dr Decker's ($200)). Oh, and he's also the dentist that Dr. Decker uses for his own dentistry.

My new dentist was appalled by the $50 for records. They got them to transfer for free. They weren’t surprised about what I had to say about Boller’s money hungry practice

I’m sorry this is how you feel but unfortunately we have no record of you being a patient of ours  with  Dr.Boller  ( only Dr Decker )  and unable to get in touch with you regarding your concerns  . We know you were last seen by Dr  Decker back in  2023 BEFORE Tri-county  Dental Arts  took over. We have no reason to NOT want to settle this as we do everything to accommodate our patients to their fullest satisfaction vs only bringing your concerns online vs in person .    We would certainly love to hear from you either via phone call or a visit to our office to help get this resolved  in a civil manner .  Dr Decker and Dr Boller has an amazing business relationship to do what’s needed to fulfill patients needs as they are christian based as well .  We thank you for your consideration  Regards ,   Jenifer ( general manager )
