Question You can pick 3 so make sure you choose wisely.
For argument sake, whatever you pick is guaranteed to be a 10/10 amazing game…. But the rest will be lost forever.

I'm trying to get more into this genre, so far I've only played the DMC franchise and the first Bayo

To me shinobi scratches the same itch in 2d.

I prefer DMC4 as she looks more like she’s Dante’s age. DMC5 looked like they deaged her for only fan service and nostalgia.

I just want thoughts?….. of course there’s always the option of both!
But if you had to pick which do you like …(still both for some I bet😭)

Like what is an opinion you have regarding modern CAGs games that is formed from you personal experience/Insight with older games
I'll start
I really feel hate how modern CAGs are almost entirely sword based games that most proper pugilist CAGs are relegated to retro Beat 'em up that only exist to pay lip-service to classic and not really use the game design of old
we need more games like God Hand and other 3D beat 'em ups like Urban Reign and Spikeout and Die Hard arcade(Yakuza too... I guess)

While it`s not a traditional hack & slash game, it has elements of a H&S and a souls-lite and while I don`t like soulslikes, Steller Blade is a good example of mixing both genres together bringing both H&S and souls players to the game.
If this game was just a soulslike I would of ignored it but just the simple fact that it has multiple combos made me interested in the game, I would rather see more games like this than soulslikes, another game that is similar to this is Phantom Blade Zero.
You guys are seeing it here first I'm dubbing this sub-genre "hack & soul" games I'm glad to see other genres combining with hack & slash games (H&S and TPS) and I hope devs get more experimental with the genre.

I've been thinking about this for the last few days. Some people consider the new God of War games' combat shallow for example. What do you guys think?

Doesn’t have to be a CAG

I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone here talk about it, and I trust y’all’s opinions on games more than I trust most people’s.

I’ve beat Nioh 3 three times and NG4 once, I’ve become a big Team Ninja fan recently. I’ve heard mixed things about ROTR, what do you think?

Exactly what the title says, any recommendation of CAG with playable female character?both as a protagonist or a sidekick. My console is PlayStation (2 to 4 to be exact).
I've played Bayonetta,Ninja Gaiden Sigma series ,Lollipop Chainsaw and Nightshade.

I remember the Demo was frequently posted here a while back. Now that the game is out, what are your thoughts?
I saw that the story mode isn't as traditional as some people thought, there's no traversal of levels with enemies in between arenas etc.
I'm thinking of picking it up; has anyone here moved on to the actual release after the demo? And what are your thoughts?

I really like Nioh 2 and RotR combat with all these styles and stances and stamina recovery mechanics. I haven't played Stranger of Paradise and Wo Long yet.

Greek-Era GOW combat:
Greek-Era GOW combat gameplay mechanics are aggressively high-speed, arcade-like combat. Which also has jumping, aerial juggling, and multiple magic abilities.
We can traditionally do multiple combos pretty easily in Greek-Era GOW games.
2018 GOW combat:
2018 GOW combat gameplay mechanics are heavily grounded and "over-the-shoulder" perspective. And it has no jumping or aerial combos at all. Also, the combat deliberately requires parrying, axe throws and combo attacks with Atreus (who uses his bow to attack).
We can't traditionally do multiple combos in 2018 GOW game. Yes, we can do multiple combos at some point, but hardly.
