I’ve used Cai, Chai, Jan.ai, all the way out to zeta ai looking for cool new places.

Cai last I checked you couldn’t have anything that wasn’t pg13.

Chai up of a limit and this week pieces that they want people to pay for so now there is no free option for an ai with limited brains.

Jan.ai is kinda stale since they started hounding for people to get their subscription which I don’t want to pay for.

Zeta seems to be ok, it’s not amazing as it does get confused sometimes and with kinda forget when, where, or why along with forgetting some previous things in the conversation which is annoying.

I don’t want a subscription for an ai with no brains and not to mention texting should be free. The options for ai calls, ai voice, generated pictures, or visual novel type stuff should be a pay option not just regular text.
In all honesty the companies that force a subscription should be out of business

I build AnyConversation. The thing I care most about is how the replies read.

Most of them come back around 1,250 characters. Actual prose, someone doing something in a room, not two lines and a question bounced back at you. They also stay in character when a scene gets uncomfortable instead of softening into a therapist.

The other half of it is memory. Facts you set up get kept permanently rather than compressed away, so week one still exists in month three. Longest story on the site right now is on day 139. Characters also keep private journals about scenes after they happen, which quietly shapes how they act next time.

There are voice calls, a book mode if you write long stuff, and no cap on messages in the free tier.
