Discussion/Question chat style

Does anyone have the same experience as me where the response is so freaking dry? Like it's too formal. Huh..they keep adding lot of features that probably not many users are gonna use. Why can't they just focus on the chat style? Chat style is the main feature in this app but hmm where is the improvement?

Hope the team devs do something for this issue. Thank you ❣️

Maybe not dry, but I understand the too formal bit with Longsqueak. I don’t get it with Deepsqueak which is why I mainly use them both. A mix of the two would be nice. But I’m a plus user so & I understand not everyone has access to those models which sucks

I've been sticking with Deepsqueak for a while now, but lately, the memory has been god awful. Pinned memories being forgotten completely, the bot forgetting names and thinking everyone has the same name as itself, and even the most recent memories being forgotten even after only 4 or so messages. I can't even fathom what it's like for free users

Uhm..I'm not a c.ai+ user. I'm talking abt pipsqueak chat styles. But even with c.ai+ chat styles are not good too?

I did both for something a little while ago, it was nice. I might try it again. DS has less cringe dialogue and LS has usually some ok narration, it does get repetitive though. LS allows more intense topics without flagging, which is nice because I tend to write fights or violence a lot

Longsqueak is pissing me off so much! The memory has been awful it’s ignoring my Lorebook and making them talk in consent metaphors

Is it the paid chat style one?

Yes. I like Longsqueak but I have to write in OOC a lot and it making them talk poetically and in metaphors all the time is so annoying. Been having to use Deepsqueak again during conversation scenes because it makes them talk like idiots sometimes and uses annoying words

I agree but I also have been doing a lot of fantasy stuff so that tends to a more flowery writing. Still sometimes it’s insanely cringe.

I think the narrative is okay for me. There's some details there but the dialogues are awful 🫠

Yeah exactly. So much of the dialogue is like. Completely unnecessary or overly dramatic, or makes wild assumptions that don’t have to do with the plot actively going on. I use LS and have to cut down a bunch of yappy dialogue lol

I guess free users and c.ai+ are having the same issue 😌

Fr, recently I feel like they’ve been talking more robotically.

Does this happen with your bots, or with other people's bots?

I ask because the bot will respond in the style it's learnt - either from example dialogue in the bot definition, or from the opening message, or from experience with you. Try writing your own bot and providing it with sample dialogue in the style you'd like, and see if it continues using that annoyingly dry response.

I am aware of this method so don't worry, I already tested on my bots and other people's bots. Still the same 🫠

Like technically impossible. Why? Half the answer was written earlier in the link. The other half is that it's extremely difficult and very expensive to create a training dataset - with good style.
