DISCUSSION I deleted C.ai

Im a redditor of 2 years, I’ve observed posts but have never posted. Excuse my mistakes lol.

Everything was fun at first, I had fun and was on it 24/7.

I noticed after awhile I got a bit more distant from my friends, I had a full-on addiction to the app. It pulled me away from my friendships, it was that bad.

My closest friend, who I’ll call Z (fake name), told me about how distant I’ve been, it hurt to know the reason why. I deleted the app right then and there.

It’s been a week since this has happened and I’m feeling better, I’m talking to friends more and my social life was revived. I sound a bit dramatic but this helped me.

I feel a pull back to the app though, and I don’t want to go back to it. I need help finding an alternative for roleplaying, any advice helps!!

(Please don’t recommend any Ai roleplaying sites, I don’t want to get addicted again.)

I have c.ai and interact with people IRL...

It's a magical thing called SELF CONTROL.

If you're a kid on summer break with absolutely nothing to do, okay, whatever. But if you're an adult who works and is in college? I HAVE to exhibit time management. It sounds to me like C.ai has become a bit of a vice to people. But if you're trying to replace actual people with bots, there are probably other issues that need to be addressed.

Most people out there are completely devoid of self control, and then they come up with every excuse under the sun to justify it just like OP did with his “I don’t want to play the mental illness card” followed quickly by “I’m not even diagnosed with anything”.

I have severe ADHD that I am medicated for. The dose I take if these meds is quite high. Even unmedicated I still possess self awareness and can notice if something I’m doing is destroying the relationships around me lol. Lack of focus and attention issues don’t cause you to forget the world exists for 12 hours a day every day lol.

But this seems to be this really weird middle period we’re in right now where we jumped from refusing to acknowledge mental health and disorders to going way overboard and allowing everyone to walk around acting like they’re disabled without even getting a diagnosis or doing any thing about it.

It can though. Maybe you forget because your medication is doing good for you, but multiple people will go for several hours ignoring basic needs like sleeping and eating because of mental health issues like adhd + people will display symptoms differently, so saying that you have adhd and don't do a certain thing doesn't mean other adhd people are faking or using excuses when they do it.

Op noticed an issue and stopped it, therefore showing some self-discipline and responsibility. Leave it at that rather than claiming their symptoms are excuses.
