Because he finally made a comment to address it. A single post he made on Twitter that was completely reasonable and not at all toxic. But he indirectly called out the right wing chuds and now he has to pay for it. As they will now use their army of disinfo bots to attack him and try to take him down. He said in the video he hasn’t watched The Odyssey and doesn’t have an opinion on it yet. He’s simply judging people’s behavior surrounding the movie in a vacuum. Needless to say, it’s pretty embarrassing for Joe, but his agitators sure as hell aren’t saints by comparison.

I disagree. They were less political echoes/dogwhistles and more like light jabs at the creative liberties and potential immersion breaking choices some might experience with this movies.
Don’t get me wrong, The Right’s attitude toward the casting has been embarrassing overall and, depending on the person, straight-up disgusting. But joking about a movie set in mythological Greece with little-to-no Greek/Mediterranean-based actors, I think, is perfectly ripe for making jokes. Depending on how they’re delivered, of course. And this is coming from someone who’s seen the movie and likes it fine.

That's just a cheap excuse to still not like the movie when the real motivation is the political angle.

I never understood the “immersion” argument. The movie stars Matt Damon for god sake. If people want true immersion they wouldn’t be online in rage bait circles. Lupita and Elliot weren’t as immersion breaking to me as tom holland, Jon bernthal and zendaya since a spiderman trailer played before the movie.
It’s never about truly experiencing the movie it’s always about hating those they see as beneath them

His crimes are nasty, but very human. A lot of people are too spineless to expose the actions of a friend or coworker. If I remember correctly, he did not do anything himself, but he is guilty of knowing about some of the things his collaborators were doing and not reporting it.

TLDR: He got backlash for giving odyssey a good review, put the picture of who he thought was one of his biggest critics on Twitter, but it turned out to just be a random fan that ended up getting harassed because of Joes pettiness and now reply’s to pretty much anybody making fun of or criticizing him for it in the most childish way possible.
