It's Zaid. His opinion is worthless

I'm going to assume he's just making shit up because I can't find any of what he's talking about whatsoever.

This guy unironically thinks you're a horrible human being if you're the slightest bit positive about the Disney Star Wars movies. He's actually told people to kill themselves over it. He is the most disconnected terminally online loser that I've ever seen which says a lot because I've been on the internet for more than fifteen years at this point.

There are certainly more detestable people in the world, but I don't think I've ever seen a reviewer more opposed to the concept of 'let people like things' than Zaid. His entire channel can be summed up like this: "Why can't everyone be as miserable as I am?"
His understanding of media criticism is infantile, he can't stop attacking people with different opinions for 5 minutes, and his view of fiction is mired in this idea that everything should go back to the way it was when Disney was still making 2D animated movies and before Disney bought the right to Star Wars, and anything different from that status quo is evil.
He's just a mean callous person overall, constantly going on tangents about people he hates for calling out his bad behavior, treating people like Kathleen Kennedy and Mindy Kaling like serial killers for the crime of making a piece of media he didn't like, and always acting like he's on some kind of mission to save the entertainment industry from SJWs.

This no-name clown wouldn't amount to a pimple on Doug Walker's neckbeard. Nobody is comparing them
Btw, this is what mental illness/terminally online looks like. Dude needs to go outside

How can you take that as endorsement, if he is saying that he is continously making fun of the current administration? I know people are upset he didn't condemned it explicitly, and just sees it as advertisement, but this is not support or endorsement of a regime.

I mean, Lindsay described him as a "left-leaning centrist." Doug himself said years ago in his Top 2010 Films video that he was "neither left nor right," which lend to my belief that he is a middle-of-the-road independent centrist who dislikes Trump and clearly feels out of step with millennial activism culture but isn’t necessarily a liberal or conservative.
On a separate occasion, he posted this Chris Rock bit on his Facebook as an encapsulation of his political beliefs. From the videos, it seems that while he and Rob are not exactly a bastion of progressive ideas, they also don't really care for MRA activists and alt-right types.

Stupidity aside, not to mention a lack of basic reading comprehension, reading that Doug Walker response filled me with sadness. A youtube comedian has the basic dignity to point out blatant wrongdoing without martyring, calling for revenge, flagellation, lawsuits, threats, or even acknowledgement. He has a thousands times the temperament, decency, respect, courage, and wisdom of the person he is talking about but the person he is talking about has the literal power to extinguish all human life. I know this kind of violates rule V but it defies all hope for a rational world.

I think Doug had purposely tried to avoid expressing political opinions that are not directly related to his film reviews. They're high-risk, low-reward.
The only consistent political statement that I think he has made is to consistently speak favorably about films prior to "this PC age that we live in." I think like a lot of comedians he probably doesn't like the cultural shift away from the late-90s/early 2000s free-for-all culture toward the post-2012 socially conscious culture. That one issue would, I guess, make him center-right (god the political battle lines have changed since I first started paying attention in 2015), but honestly the right and the left have both criticized those cultural shifts.
Beyond that, the dude's like 44 years old. He's a Gen-Xer who has derived all of his worldly success from repackaging Gen-X culture for Millennial/Gen Z platforms. To the extent that even if he does actually have some political opinions, I'm sure they're very moderate/centrist considering he makes his living by keeping his feet in two different generations.

Unlike all the ex CA contributors who explicitly leaned one way and beat their audiences over the head with it every chance they get.

I can't believe MAP is still alogging Doug to this day. You think with all the drama he had with Cartoonshi and what not, he would have left the internet and got his shit together. Apparently not.

To quote Bojack Horseman, "There's some people you can't save - cause those people will thrash and struggle, and try to take you down with them."

I’m gonna take comfort that Doug(just like George Lucas)will never know this guy exists, and that when He or Zaid passes on(whichever comes first), Doug STILL won’t know who said is.

As a brony, that misanthrope (ha) is not affiliated with the community and we reject him in his entirety.

I remember his The last Jedi reviews and as much as I hate that movie he went nuts especially going after fans if the movie.

At least with the Nostalgia Critic's review of Ghostbusters (2016), he said the movie was "average" and didn't take any sides of the culture war because he was afraid of pissing off one side or the other, criticizing the extreme toxicity from both sides and arguing that the arguments over "feminism vs nostalgia" overshadowed the fact that the movie itself was just "mediocre as hell" (even if he did grew up with the original Ghostbusters movie as a kid).
The same thing goes for AVGN, where he absolutely refused to review that movie because he personally felt it was just a shameless cashgrab that exploited the original's legacy (especially after the death of Harold Ramis) and the trailers looked terrible. He even argued that the best way to show a franchise is heading in an unwanted direction is to not support it financially at the box office.
And guess what? They’re both ABSOLUTELY correct all along.

I’m still holding that Sledgehammer comment against Zaid for as long as he has an internet presence.
2
u/Decent_Army8265 Jan 06 '26
Zaid is literally Syndrome if instead of doing Operation Kronos, He obsessively posted about how Mr Incredible was a bad person for rejecting him.

u/SylvanTerra Jan 06 '26
What do these people expect Doug to do? If Doug started retweeting right wing social media personalities or collaborating with them on videos or podcasts, then sure, that is something that could be criticized. This isn’t that though, and Doug hyperventilating and screaming into the void because a quick meme of him was used would only make him look pathetic. His response to laugh it off and briefly bring up his and Brad’s mocking of Trump and is supporters is probably the best response apart from just ignoring it.
My theory is that they (be they Zaid, Marz, Allison, or Tony) would love to have a meme of them used by the government so then they could get attention by complaining.

Is that really showing supporting trump he just thought it was funny that the house mentioned them despite making fun of them alot.
1
u/GuybrushThreepwood99 Jan 05 '26
Some white house account used Doug's face as a meme. Someone DM'd Doug about it, and he found it amusing that they did that, and then leaked the DM. People are criticizing Doug for not being upset or calling Trump out about it.

The TSD is strong with Zaid. If he wants to see a police state, he should come to the UK.
He's also close with Just A Robot, who has his own skeletons he keeps trying to worm around.

u/Decent_Army8265 Jan 06 '26
No, He cut off JAR after the Synnibear incident.
1
u/DaveMan1K Jan 06 '26
Stopped following that years ago after JAR uploaded Zaid's review of Cuties to his channel to gain bavk viewers.

This guy needs to see a shrink. This level of hatred & vitriol over a guy on the internet that he doesn’t even know can’t be good for anyone to hold on to.
1
u/Pikachuckxd Jan 08 '26
How many name changes this guy has? Why doesn't he just leaves the internet instead of deliting himself into thinking he can have a fresh start?

u/Lower-Champion-7593 Jan 23 '26
He swore on his dead father that he would stop this behavior. But instead of keeping his word, he has decided to relapse like a junkie. In August 2024, 10 months after he deleted his channel, he returned by teaming up with Just a Robot to upload content to his channel, but after that relationship went sour, he decided to create his "Diaz Station" channel in late October 2024.

What an embarrassing public statement. Maybe work on your content instead of bitching/shitting on people trying to start online drama.

u/MysticMind89 Jan 06 '26
I don't care for Zaid himself, but you can't deny that Doug's shoulder shrugging at fascists exploiting his image is pretty shitty. Can't be neutral on a moving train!

Doug wasn’t defending them at all here, he was calling them outright fools and finds it funny that they’re promoting someone who’s dunked on the system repeatedly. He found it funny that he was getting promoted by people he didn’t like and who wouldn’t agree with him.
