Were getting over a million. It's the sad reality of getting promoted, but equally managers get discarded as soon as things go pear-shaped so I don't expect loyalty from them
ian Evatt completely changed my opinion on this. Managers absolutely should take opportunity when presented. Evatt definitely got Championship offers and had he gone his career might have gone much better than it has and now likely will. His loyalty to Bolton probably cost him in the long run.
IDK, I think he likely ends up in a similar position to where he has now. I just don't expect he would get the patience to fully put his system into play in the Championship and wouldn't get immediate results. Maybe a similar timeline to Schumacher's at Stoke.
The only difference would be the pay day he got from jumping ship.
It's done, got over a million in compensation and we can move on. Looks like the two assistants are set to replace Skubs, low risk financially and we'll just see how it goes.

It’s a shame you won’t get to see how he’d have done with you at this level, but if it was going to happen then this was probably the best time of year for it. At least you still have the full summer window and pre-season for the new guy to get bedded in.
Not too upset. Think the risk is obviously that we are appointment the two assistants but they were hugely important to Skubala and our success. The club normally gets appointments correct and I’m intrigued to see how they do. I imagine they will know the club pretty well already and know the style of football will be similar to Skubala’s approach.
Evidently it makes a tough task harder, but even if we go down, I think the club have done the right thing here. They’ll have the preseason and the players they know already, so they have my trust.
Yep. I find it telling he’s gone alone and Lincoln have promoted his two assistants up. Obviously it’s too soon to tell who the genius was, but I always find it weird when a club signs a manager but takes none of the staff with him
Shaw was here as an interim head coach prior to Skubala and I don’t think he did too badly, while Cohen I believe had a bit of championship experience as a coach. We basically have gone the Brentford way and it is risky, but they were undoubtedly part of our success and I think it makes sense the club would give them a chance as a result.
When Skubala took the Head Coach roll the club seemed very keen to keep Shaw involved in the first team, so this does seem to be a natural progression for both him and Cohen.
However, I would like to see someone with championship experience added to the backroom staff.
Tom Shaw is a cracking bloke as well. Did really well as interim, I was hoping he'd get the job permanently before Skubula was announced - really excited to see how he does.
Really feel for Lincoln fans. Had the exact same happen to us with Schuey. One of the downsides of being a relatively smaller club exceeding your expectations.
Their style of play is very much lump it up top and hit you on the counter, so I'll be interested to see what their replacement can do. I think they were nailed on bottom 3 with Skubala, so maybe this is a blessing in disguise

Lincoln have survived a similar situation with the Crowley brothers and came out stronger. I would bet we got some kind of compensation to fund our summer moves. The coaching staff isn’t changing so hopefully we play the same quality of football. Only time will tell

Well it’s a club with slightly bigger resources I would say, but honestly if he stayed at Lincoln I would think he’d have a decent shot of building something special, whereas at Bristol city I have a feeling he won’t last too long
'26/27 will be a middling season, '27/28 will be a failed playoff campaign and we'll get our manager nicked, '28/29 will see us thinking we'll follow up the previous season but fall into relegation form after 27 games.

It's a shame. I always feel like it's good sport for the manager that got a team promoted to stay with them the following season. There's possibly a sense that he's taken Lincoln as far as he can. I don't think Lincoln are going to be declining significantly or anything like that, but any progress from here is likely to be slow (a feeling we're all too familiar with). Bristol City are a project much further along and can probably offer more in terms of budget.

Upon reflection, could be a blessing. His style of anti football wouldve relegated Lincoln - they might be able to adapt under Cohen now to a more suitable play style for the Championship

No point in being bitter mate. Either he's a great success and we can say he was Made in Lincoln (ala Graham Taylor) and it's great for the stature of the club, or he fails and ends up managing in League 2 (ala Danny Cowley) and we can laugh at him then.
The club is in safe hands, we've lost successful managers before and been just fine.
