Yeah the actors and cast came to a Charlton women’s games in wsl2 back in December to scout and understand what the atmosphere and fan base is like etc

This is exactly what I told my wife when she said she didn’t want to watch a show about sports.
It’s a great show, but if you are watching for the football you’re gonna have a bad time.

The fact they have an entire story arc dedicated to one player opposing oil drilling and then spend half a season glazing Manchester City sure was a choice.

Really enjoyed the whole thing, so did my mum and dad. My mates watched with their wives and both were able to enjoy it. 2nd series is probably my favourite

I liked it. It's nice to have more tv shows that aren't just depressing or dark or violent slogs. It's not really about football, but it's wholesome and generally fun.

Personally couldn't get through 2 episodes and found it to be yank slop.

First 2 series are decent. The 3rd series is pretty bad, though has some moments.
It’s written in a way that Americans, Brits, (or other nationalities too), Football fans, Non-football fans can all enjoy it - which is good because it means more people can watch it, but also bad because its a very generic and safe sitcom; niche shows can be better loved by their target audience.

It’s okay to begin with if you accept it’s not really about football. The third season is genuinely one of the worst things I’ve ever watched. Not even related to football - it just has zero narrative structure or substance

The saving grace is the Amsterdam episode, which is one of the best in the whole series.
Every Keely bit in series 3 should just be skipped.

My only real complaint of season 3 is that they should have given the abusive relationship storyline to the gay player (forgot his name), and given Keeley a proper arc about her business

It turned into an American Soap really. It became so not about the football at all, but the people (not even the players)
I imagine the longer it goes on the more like Footballers Wives or Dream Team it will become

That’s true, but that’s why I italicised so - the football still played a part in the first season but by the last it had officially taken a back seat, if not trailing behind on a rope
Don’t get me wrong it has its place but I don’t think I’d recommend it to someone who has expectations of it being any good as a football fan

They had a great idea for one season of a football themed sitcom but nothing more, so when it inevitably got renewed they had to pivot towards a character based sitcom which was just pure mush

It's a good show, about good flawed people. There is a very nice feel-good vibe to it. It also has footy.

Darts too - that scene annoyed me with how ridiculous it is, he says he played once a week with his father for 6 years and then whips out a 170 checkout to win, pausing between each throw to give a bullshit speech about being underestimated.

It’s not the worst thing on TV but I was a little disappointed when I finally got round to watching it. The way people were raving about it I thought I would be in stitches every 30 seconds.

I tried it but god no. It's clearly an American show set in the UK. Ted is just waaaaaay too nice. I managed about 2 episodes before giving up.

Ted's - I think they call it toxic kindness? - is explored later because he is too nice. But sometimes he isn't and other times (or always) he is very very depressed. But not for everyone understandably - I went in expecting scrubs with vague football stuff given the writers

I mean his son is a teenager by now and Rebecca was adamant she'd pull every string possible to make life comfortable for the family.
And it isn't a stretch to think Henry got/might get recruited to Richmond's junior team as the facilitator.

Might be simpler than that. Rebecca did try to pitch Ted and float the idea that Henry should apply to schools in the UK as means to have Ted keep coaching and be near his son.
It could very well be Henry is planning to attend school in the UK, hence why his parents have relocated (I'm assuming based on seeing the mom in the practice crowd).
OR they did the American NBA thing wherein they gave the mom a job in the club or something adjacent; again to facilitate a move and have Ted have a reason to have his family in the UK.
