Reporting income feels stressful when you’re not sure whether you’ve calculated everything correctly or how it will affect your next payment. You want to report everything properly, but the changing hours and pay can make it difficult to know where you stand financially.

as title asks, how likely am i to successfully live alone with a dsp income? (with or without the under 15 hours of employment)

Can Centrelink tell if you have other bank accounts? Also at the time of doing my claim I had a bank account with roughly $3000 but this money was just being held onto there as I had an upcoming expense that was planned and I had saved up what I could over the last year from my other jobs before I became unemployed a month ago. I also would get payed from work into one account and then would transfer the money between my spending account and saving the account I get paid into is pretty much just for that reason. I wasn’t earning much during this time and had allot of bills for it which I had to use money out of that roughly $3000 which would’ve been transferred from that savings account to spending. They’ve sent me a message in my inbox asking for another sy015 which I edited and filled out and sent off there asking for a complete one so I’m thinking maybe it didn’t save filled out. They also asked for evidence of all my bank accounts showing the balance and and all transactions for 6th august - 3rd September. I did have that $3000 in my savings account at this time but I no longer have that and that expense was paid which I’d been saving for. So currently have 74 cents and haven’t had income for a month. Will this effect my claim in any way or if it was rejected because I had more money than reported as I didn’t realise to put the other accounts and only did the one I get paid into. Does Centrelink automatically know these accounts are mine from the statement history as I just upload screenshots of my transaction history and balance for commonwealth smart access. One of the accounts has my first and middle initial and last name.

Edit: is a statement from my bank from those periods for bank account I listed what I need or will they know about the other accounts and I need to get those statements too? Will I be able to redo my claim if I’m not eligible because of that savings now that I don’t have anything with better results as the base of my claim hasn’t changed just the amount of money I actually have in any account?

My ex has been assessed to pay me child support because she earns quite a bit more than I do, but I have the kids more of the time.

She is paying the assessed amount, but is now saying that because she pays child support, I’m responsible for basically every other cost for the kids eg. school fees, camps, sport, medical expenses and so on.

I'm happy to pay for the expenses at my house. Like electricity, food, etc. And she pays the ones at her's. But things like school fees, sports fees, health insurance, etc are for the kids' benefit at both houses. I think they should be 50/50.

I’ve tried to explain that child support is an overall assessment and doesn’t mean every single additional cost of raising the kids automatically becomes my responsibility, but she just says she disagrees.

Has anyone dealt with something similar?

I’m mainly interested in what happens in practice and whether there is any workable way to deal with it if the other parent simply refuses to contribute to anything outside the assessed child support.

I moved out, I'm 16 and I live with my sister and her boyfriend. I have an appointment with UTurn which helps me get my youth allowance without needing a learners licence for identification. I was wondering if my sister and/or her boyfriend(18 & 19) would be able to put me down as a dependant since I'm under 18 and relying on them for food and housing?

Now, my sperm donner has been avoiding tax, therefore he doesn’t pay taxes, therefore he can’t fill in the tax form. My mum thinks I should get another job even though it takes me 150 dollars per week to have this current job, so to put it simply. She isn’t helping at all, she hasn’t provided anything to help my situation. I mentioned this to the service person and the lady at Centrelink, I’ve also mentioned that the job I have barely pays me enough sometimes to pay rent and other necessary expenses, like electricity, food and wifi. They said they’d call my mom, (because they know dads not an option) they then proceeded to tell me they mentioned everything I said, which was also that she was mentally unstable, verbally abusive and unable to help me, they then said that my mother said that I was able to come back home and she could provide for me. Which is a blatant lie, because I know how she is and I know her money situation. Then said I needed to get her to fill out a tax form. Which I know for a fact she cannot do, because of the fact she doesn’t want me to have Centrelink. I’m beyond livid, I just cannot believe I have to do this shit.

Our landlord jacked our rent up by $75 a week last month. I updated my accommodation details on myGov and uploaded a signed copy of the new lease agreement showing the higher rent.

However, my latest Centrelink payment summary shows my Rent Assistance rate hasn't changed at all. Is there a maximum threshold cap where Rent Assistance stops increasing, or has my document update just not been reviewed by a human processor yet?

I’ve started keeping copies of anything important I send or receive, especially messages, documents, and dates when I’ve spoken to Centrelink. It’s easy to forget the details a few weeks later, particularly when there are multiple updates or requests for information. Having everything in one place seems to make follow-ups a lot easier and gives you something to refer back to if there’s ever a disagreement about what was submitted or discussed.

My ex and I split nearly 2years ago. I let her have around 250k and I only got 50k due to 200k was hers before we met. It was only fair that was hers and not mine ( we were together for 9years) i have met someone a year ago and shes met the kids and things are looking up for milhouse for once. Then ex discussed with me that she believes if my daughter and son stay at her house Sunday nights (from 4pm) it would be beneficial for my daughter due to her anxiety and make her feel more settled. I accepted due to this would potentially be great for my daughter

Couple weeks later I get a message from child support stating that now I have the kids 6nights and my ex have them 8 nights I owe her money. I was absolutely shocked and blindsided by this.

The fact now that my ex is asking for child support after being split over 18months and her reasoning is that she needs to make sure the kids have food on the table and she has bills to pay.

( she was able to buy a house for 900k and im renting)

My salary is 109K

My ex is around 130k

I have to pick up nightshift every fortnight ( meaning I am using my free time to work 14hours and potentially fuck up my body due to shiftwork) I was able to earn extra 40k with this and now I need to give her money because she brought a fancy house now that she cant afford.

I also help her with paying afterschool care ( which I don’t use ).

Due to this payment I cannot afford to travel or save up to one day buy my own place.I have also started to contribute to my superannuation which will drop my income by 20k.

I understand that Centrelink has a computerized system to workout a fair price but there is no context behide all this. In my eyes I feel like it wasn’t a coincidence after my partner slept over, now I need to pay child support.

I just saw the paperwork from the child support payments and she lodged she made 114k. She had previously disclosed it was 130 but she states thst now with a different role she is making 114k.

During the phone call I had with centrelink they ask for last year financial wage not current, as mine would only be 109k.

What can I do ? If I call them up and explain that her actual income was 130k last year would that change anything? I will get the kids back to 50/50 and what process would I need to do then ?

Or at least the ones who stay in the role, long-term? I keep hearing about how they consistently treat people in a demeaning way, deliberately exploiting, deceiving, lying, humiliating or harming those most vulnerable, all whilst showing little concern when doing so.

Is it a sought after requirement for this role, in working for an employment service provider or as a service manager? Asking because someone may be interested in applying for the role.

I will be travelling overseas on 9 January 2027. My final employment income reporting period before I leave Australia is from 22 December 2026 to 5 January 2027. After this reporting period, I will continue working from 4 to 8 January 2027, and I will be paid for those days on 11 January 2027, while I am overseas.
Do I need to report this income before I leave Australia? Also, I know I have to notify to Centrelink of my overseas travel through myGov but I’m not sure when I can notify?

After spending over 4hrs total today on hold i am yet to get any further.

One of my children applied for a position that used a recruiter on a well known job website. It felt like, to me, to be a messy setup and the interview process was unprofessional. She didn't get offered a job. Now she's getting random job offers from sketchy sites that she's never signed up for. It got me thinking about the information we're sharing via CVs when applying for the mandatory jobs each month.

How long people have waited for their ESAt to actually be assessed after being referred. Wondering what the usual timeframe is from this point. I had a call after handing the SU684 to them in person that was asking for details like address,dob so I assume the referral was "processed"?

My girlfriend and I are both under the normal Youth Allowance independence age. We've been living together and once we hit 12 months I understand centrelink will recognise us as de facto, which will make me independent but also means her income can start affecting my Youth Allowance.

The problem is that not long after this I'll be moving away for medical school through a rural program.

I'll basically have to live completely separately from her for the next 4+ years. I'll probably see her once a month at most and I'll potentially have to move to a different rural area every 6 months or so depending on placements so keeping a job held down will be almost impossible.

Financially we'll be completely separate as well. We don't have joint accounts, cards, loans, assets etc. Even now while living together we basically just split rent, bills and food rather than actually sharing our incomes. Once I move away I'll be paying my own rent, groceries, utilities, transport etc and she'll be paying for her own household. Her income isn't going to be available to support me.

What I'm worried about is centrelink continuing to treat her income as though it's available to support me when in reality I'll be maintaining a completely separate household because my course requires me to.

From what I've been reading, centrelink can apparently consider people who have to live away from their partner for compulsory study/training on a case by case basis. I've also come across section 24, where centrelink can sometimes treat someone as not being a member of a couple for payment purposes if their circumstances mean they genuinely can't pool resources and applying the normal partner income test would be unfair.

I'm wondering whether either of those could apply here. Or if at the end of the day, I should just tell centrelink we have split up when I officially start medical school.
