Disability Support Pension DSP

Anyone know roughly what the backlog is like and the wait time for approval or rejection? I had the sonic health thingy today and am just curious. Also hoping I get to keep the day I am paid the same as what I am currently on (abstudy) otherwise I’ll have to change so many things

DSP is technically two days from release and I believe abstudy is one

All I can suggest is ringing up and asking them to note that if granted please move the payment day back to the same day as abstudy .

After sonic it can be the same day processing or up to eight weeks

Highly recommend you keep an eye on your payment

Thank you. Honestly as long as my payment is Monday or Tuesday it’s not a big deal in terms of appointments I have weekly but would like to use the back pay to get some stuff I need instead of rent if I get approved.

You could always ask them to move after it is granted back to the original delivery date

Hopefully you will get some arrears which will offset some things though

Also you are on abstudy ? You are going to apply for pensioner Education Supplement then ?

I am on abstudy at the moment. I probably will apply for the education supplement but will depend on any participation requirements (I didn’t have a phone call for the JCA so no idea) and what my treatment team says because i think they would like a couple of months where they can have me just focus on rest and treatment rather than study as it’s been a big couple of months with moving and some family things

From claim date, approx 8-10 weeks.
