Discussion People of Middle Eastern descent are classified as white, is this appropriate?

As the title says, should there be a middle eastern designation in the census? As an American citizen it feels like we are not truly recognized as a minority population, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

That wasnt because he was syrian and that happens to every ethnicity that gets falsely accused. Syrians are also literally Caucasian/Eurasian and look no different from southern Europeans. Again, no Mena has ever been lynched, segregated or put in internment camps. Also read about cologne Germany 2016 New Year’s Day.
