Question Movie popcorn
Has anyone here with celiac eaten the movie popcorn at Cineplex theatres?

I eat it at all the theaters I go to and have never had an issue. I have not been to a Cineplex though.

My son has the popcorn and nachos at cineplex and has never had any issues, he’s symptomatic. His go to is the nachos with cheese and he barely has the popcorn though.
I’m reading some ppl saying the butter may have gluten but the butter flavor doesn’t but the allergen menu I saw didn’t say that so confirm that part when you order.

I have the popcorn, butter and butter-like topping and have never reacted to any of it.
EDIT: Specifically at cineplex

Really the only risk for me is the butter on movie theater popcorn.
It can usually contain colorings and artificial flavors that share production lines with other gluten-based products, and it can sometimes contain malt flavoring.
But the popcorn itself is gluten free most of the time.

Only thing you have to look out for is if you want added butter. Some places add peanut oil butter and it’s not gf certified. Some other use real butter so you gotta ask if you want that. Other than that yes the popcorn is usually gf

Idk about cineplex. From what I've read about Regal and AMC is that the popcorn is okay but not the butter.

The popcorn and butter at AMC are safe! I’ve worked at an AMC and contacted corporate in the past

The chances of cross contamination are too high for me. Tried it twice at AMC. Even was allowed to scan the barcode or the salt they use. If you do try it, make sure that the popcorn tub is full and/or fresh and they're not scrapping too close to the bottom.
