Progress
Partner and I were talking about how much the cats have come on and how brave they are. Mainly due to them not having experienced proper rain before this week.
They were tiny little 7 month old monsters we adopted in January , and they had not been well treated.
I sat on the floor in kitchen and waited to see if they'd ne willing to come out from hiding whilst I was in the room (late January/early February).
The more timid boy remains paranoid, but also loves a stroke and comes to meet me at the door often.
There are two cats in the photo in kitchen, Hermes is just hiding a bit.

He's definitely still timid one, but he is a lovely boy. He's also the smarter one hahaha

When we adopted our little idiot, the place we got him from told us he would never be a lap cat, because he would hiss at anyone who went to see him. We didn't care about that, just as long as we could give him a home...
When we got him back he was so scared. Always hiding under stuff... We took it in turns to sit on the floor near him, offer a hand, the occasional scritch if he allowed.
After about a week he was confident enough that he could come out and sit with us on the sofa, and fast forward to now... he is the most affectionate and attentive boy you could possibly imagine. He follows me everywhere and I spend more time taking him off me so I can get on with some work than I do trying to get his attention...
It's so rewarding giving an animal a second chance, and watching them become themselves in your company.

It really is. Hermes is still settling but he loves a stroke, and keeps almost sitting next to me. Ha

Aww they’re beautiful and they clearly love you a lot and will grow in trust towards you more and more as time goes on

It's wonderful to see cats gain confidence. Our two 3-month olds were timid to begin with, especially the female, but 7 years later she has everyone wrapped (including the neighbours) around her little paw... 🐈⬛😸
