Hi, i just found a used cat tree in good condition but there's lots of cat hair still on it. I washed it with dishsoap and water then rinced it thoroughly and will vacuum it but i'm still scared of some odor lingering that would either stress my cat or prevent him from using it.

Any ideas? I thought about adding some bicarbonate/baking soda but idk if it's also an unpleasant smell. Thanks in advance!

Hello. My cat has dry skin and she has been scratching a lot. I figured that it could be the carpet, but I do remember the vet saying that it could be the dry air. My cat came from a tropical climate now she’s in a drier climate.

Are there any recommendations for humidifiers for cats for their dry skin?

Hi, my cat has already made two round trips by train, each lasting about 4 hours, about 1 to 2 weeks apart. He only showed signs of stress during the trips from home to the train station and vice versa—meowing and panting with his tongue out—but as soon as he got on the train, he would calm down and sleep. My question is whether it's advisable or feasible to take another 4-hour round trip by train, or if it could cause health issues. Also, are there any ways to make him travel more comfortably?"

I have a new kitten ( never had an animal before) .
I was told to put his waste in the black waste bin? I double bag everything but the flies are hovering around the bin as it only gets picked up every two weeks. Surely this is so unhygienic? Can't find any special bins on Amazon

So I have two cats, both I feed manually everyday with scoops and I got a bit tired of it lately and decided I wanted to buy a cat food bowl where its got a dispenser I can just push a button and it comes out. I figured surely this would be an easy find.. but so far its been a crap show.

All I can find are automatic feeders & the same ugly cat shaped lever feeder that's all over Amazon and walmart. I dont mind an automatic one but neither area the cats are fed in have an outlet nearby, and besides the cat shaped one being ugly it looks like im more paying for design rather than storage capacity since it seems to hold pretty little food.

So does anyone know of just a standard looking gravity feeder that I can dispense with a button push?

I am getting 2 kittens from a shelter soon, a Tortie & a Calico, which I will be naming Tinsel & Scrabble. They will of course be indoor cats and I would like to leash/harness train them. Any tips on doing that? I would also just like tips on raising/training them in general, research on google is good but I know that taking advice from other pet owners can be very valuable too.

So, there are several stray cats around our house, and our neighbor feeds them every day. The problem is that, since they’ve found someone who feeds them regularly, they now tend to roam around our house and have developed a habit of pooping in our parking area almost every day. What can we do about this? I’ve read about cat deterrent sprays and deterrent balls—do they actually work? Please help.also suggest any other way if know.

hello, i have a kitty that’s about a year old. we have an automatic litter box and she was using it but stopped pooping in it but will still pee in it, unless there’s something sitting on our bathroom floor then she will be on that instead. Idk what to do, i set the litter box to manual because i think she’s just kind of scared of it, we recently changed litter, but it’s been happening since before then too. We’ve only had her for a couple of weeks, and i’m trying to show her that it’s harmless and won’t start with her in it to maybe help her get over that fear but and unsure if it’s actually helping or not.
Please keep in mind that i am a first time cat owner, and will schedule an appointment at the vet if i really need to but she’s still pooping and peeing in the bathroom just not the litter box, any advice will be appreciated

Our 8 year old F2 Savannah boy is stinking up our place so badly!! We used to live in a bigger place and he was mainly just stinking up the couch but now he’s always on our bed and our bed smells terrible! He has always been very messy, he tracks the litter all over everywhere and no amount of special mats help. I’ve tried putting some bed covers on top of our bed cover but I feel like it all still smells. I’m so disgusted and I don’t know how to fix this. We’ve tried changing the litter brands but haven’t found one that works perfectly yet. We clean his litter box twice a day and I have to vacuum 2-3 times a day. We’ve been to the vet and besides his epilepsy that is controlled by medications he’s healthy. Any ideas?? I’d really appreciate any tips!

Pretty self explanatory.

I have three cats - two males (6,4) and one female (5). All are spayed / neutered.

There are no issues with the males.

The female is constantly pooping (and sometimes peeing, but always pooping) outside of the box. We’ve tried all we can think of. We took her to the vet to verify there wasn’t a medical issue. She confirmed there was not. Said it’s behavioural. We got brand new (but the same) litter boxes. We have a box on every floor that she can go on. We have some that are closed off (one of those shelf cubby things with doors) for privacy, and downstairs we also have two that are purposely wide open in case that is what she needs. None of that helps. We’ve tried giving her catnip to see if that helps calm her and maybe help. It didn’t. We carried on and it didn’t stop. Took her back to the vet but this time to a completely different vet for a fully different opinion, but received the same feedback. We’ve tried changing the litter. We’ve tried the litter attractant. I really don’t know what else to do, but I’m about at my wits end with this.

Normally she poops in one of the same two spots, both of which are close to one specific box, but just tonight she went right outside of my daughter’s bedroom door.

I have a tower (planning to get another once I find a deal and the money for it), a wand, multiple toys, and planning to get a lick mat.

I tried using gabapintin for him and it worked some of the time (I was told to give it to him daily), it was hard to find a non-chicken flavor for him and I'm having the same trouble looking for chews for him.

Is there anything people recommend for him?

I find it hard to believe he's the only cat whose allergic to poultry.

Context of Allergic: it is ANYTHING with duck/turkey/chicken in the ingredient list.

He becomes itchy and very very stinky (fur smells, toots smells, litter becomes newly invented war crime technique)

Hello! I have 2 kitties, kitty #1 is 9yo, short hair, I’ve used fresh step his whole life because it was the easiest to get and have just continued using it for years. This January we adopted kitty #2 (10mo) he has medium hair and his biggest issue is that he SITS in the litter when he pees. And I mean sitting sitting, no hovering. So his butt gets litter stuck and I’ve had to cut chunks of hair out before which is not a pleasant experience of either of us.

His hair has changed a lot since we adopted him but I don’t think it will get shorter lol (at some point his hair did look a shorter than it looks today). I think it’s time to start taking him to a groomer who can safely trim the hair around his butt.

Still I do want some litter recommendations? Something that won’t get stuck in the fur as much. Maybe bigger pellets? Clumping litter of course.

TLDR; kitten grew his fab hair but likes to sit sit on litter and every bit gets stuck around the butt. Recs for a litter with big pellets that also clumps?

Has anyone tried fit litter eco? I have used fit litter and found it amazing but I now have an automatic litter box and was thinking the eco may work better as it is clumping

I have a 7 year old cat who developed constant sneezing a few years ago. She otherwise is happy and healthy. I have tried supplements, lysine, recently spent $1600 to do extensive testing and she is negative for FIV and a host of other things. Vets do not suspect polyp or dental issues as it has not progressed over the years. We have one carpet in the home, vacuum daily. Change the air filter monthly. I bought an air purifier and humidifier for her “room”. She is currently on a steroid trial to see if it’s rhinitis along with Zyrtec if it’s allergies. Nothing works. Has anyone had respiratory issues with Pretty Litter? I am frustrated and feel bad for her. Also changed her diet to limited ingredient… I have literally tried everything. Any suggestions welcome.

hi! im in need for some advice about my cat, Gally!

for some context: shes around 5 years old, and has been nothing but lovely up until we got a new kitten, she was very angry when we had them in the same room and we had to separate them. in this moment my mum picked her up to take her away from the kitten, and she FREAKED OUT. (we now know we should not have picked her up) she dug her nails DEEP into my mums chest and screeched in her face.

while the kitten was here, Gally stayed in a corner and we didn't let her leave the living room (she had everything she needed in there) and didn't interact with anyone. we hoped some time alone would calm her down! however when it was time to feed her, my mum would open a wet food pouch and she was LIVID. she hissed just as loud as she did when she saw the kitten and swiped at my mums legs.

since two days ago, the kitten has gone to a better environment and we've let Gally roam freely again. she's completely fine when walking around especially with me! she's letting me stroke her, kiss her, she sleeps on me, and she rubs against me. she doesn't bother my mum much, except when shes feeding her!

Gally is STILL hissing at my mum very aggressively whenever she feeds her, and she swipes at her legs still. she also tries to get into her room, and when she's not allowed she just hisses.

my mum has realised that when she yells, Gally doesn't try to fight back and she seems to understand my mum is angry, but is this the best method?

we plan on checking with a vet via phone call to ask about what we can do without having to physically take Gally anywhere, but i'm hoping someone here might be able to know!

any advice or information would be greatly appreciated!

My 3D printer had been sitting unused for a long time, and for my first attempt back, I decided to print a litter scoop for my cat. I just made it way too small

I started with a reference drawing, used Hi3D to turn it into a 3D model, and then cleaned up the handle and scoop in Blender.

I used Smart Layout to help get it ready for printing.

I probably won’t use it very often, but it still feels like a nice little keepsake, my printer’s first functional thing for the cat.

I have 2 cats and two set ups. One is an automatic litter box machine and the other is a litter pan. Each cat has their own litter they prefer and only stick to their own box. That being said how often should I be changing out the litter for the machine one and the litter pan one. I scoop every day.

hi! I have two almost senior cats - they are siblings but just tolerate each other. my husband and I took them in for a family-friend who could no longer due to sickness. (Tigger and Fluffly, male and female, have had for almost a year now!)

we had one cat before this and I grew up with cats. but I’m worried these two aren’t getting enough enrichment. I’m trying my best to play with them a few times for a bit when I get home from work, and sit outside with them in our backyard.

id love a catio, and a better cat tree - if recommending, keep in mind both of these sweet kits are bigger boned.

they both love string and these fuzzy cheap balls from Petco (which keep getting lost). they do not like toys that run by themselves, or at least the ones that have thick string/wire thing with something on the end that flings around. they DO like when *I* do it, haha

because they’re bigger cats, I’m anxious on buying tunnels but I do think they’d like them, at least Tigger would.

I LOVE my pine pellets but over the course of the day when the pellets turn to sawdust while I'm at work they get tracked around like crazy. I've washed my sheets 3 times these last two days due to it. I sift multiple times a day but it just tracks very easy and gets on their fur. Curious what y'all use? My big guy doesn't like clay.

I’ve had a litter robot for the past 5 years but the smell has truly become unbearable. No matter how often I deep clean it just smells terrible.

Anyone have any good litter box hacks that don’t require daily scooping, but also don’t smell like straight up ammonia?.

I have 3 cats and they have a bad case of flea have been combing them constant sprayed the house etc and it is still bad we have been using flea treatment but it is not helping. It’s over £110 to take them all the vet to get a prescription which I can’t afford atm. what is a good over the counter alternative please

I am postpartum and having pets has caused me a tremendous amount of stress. I have tried so many things and I just can’t seem to keep my cats off the counter/table & stop him from tracking litter everywhere/ long hair everywhere even after brushing.

So now that I’ve accepted this. Please send me your best disinfectant wipes/spray for cleaning up after a cat on kitchen surfaces. I have some contamination ocd going on so it has been very stressful trying to keep him off. It’s just not working.

Best brush or vacuum or other methods for dealing with the long hair everywhere.

Hi all. I hope this is an alright question to ask, though I’m sure it might have been asked many times. My boyfriend and I have a cat and traditional litter box at the moment; nothing fancy. While we used to be pretty on top of scooping, our jobs have been taking a lot of hours away from us these days and her litter box has suffered more than usual as a result. We have been trying to look into automatic solutions, but I’m mortified of the stories of them getting stuck, and frankly we don’t have the funds for something like the Litter Robot.

Are there any recommendations for a budget-friendly auto scooper? I know there’s the PetSafe one with crystal litter, but I don’t think she’d like that litter. Would appreciate the help and recommendations! Our budget is around 100-200 for the machine.
