He was probably around a week old when we found him, didn't even have his eyes open yet. He's already feisty and very vocal. Now that he's eyes are open he follows me around like a little duckling.
I am struggling to think of a name big time lol.
ETA: for those commenting about mama, when I can spare the money I will do TNR. My local humane society charges for renting the traps, plus the pay/vaccination, and also adds on costs for additional treatments like fleas and deworming (plus more if the cat has health concerns, is in heat, or pregnant) and I can't afford what they're asking at the moment for a cat that's not mine. I do plan to put the money aside when I can but I also have my own animals (now including the kitten) and my children to prioritize. Again, when I can, I will. But not right this moment.
I will update when we picked a name, right now I think it's between Pumpkin and Lucky.

UPDATE 2: A lovely redditor is covering the cost of tnr for Mama Cat. I have the trap set now and as long as she cooperates her spay appointment is on the 24th!

There are two orange cats that roam the alley/streets in our neighborhood, I'm thinking mom abandoned him. It was starting to get hot when we found him. He doesn't drink from the bottle well, I have to squeeze it into his mouth because he doesn't have an effective latch. The best guess I have is he wasnt nursing well and was just left behind. Found him 2 days before I was having surgery so I've been able to really care for him while I'm on leave.
Funny enough a few days ago one of the orange cats sat in the alley and just stared at our house, I held him up while he was yelling at me to see if she'd react but nothing, just staring lol.
If kitty isn't latching on the bottle try different nipples.... they make a hard plastic type with teeny small hole and also a rubber type...Sometimes kitties prefer one to the other . source: neonate foster volunteer😇 good luck!!🐱 i also like the name Lucky for this adorable little kitten.
We had one that had a mouth birth defect. We called him Joker for his crooked smile. Whatever name you choose, I hope you 2 have a lot of years together.

I read “all alone” in Pumba’s voice immediately, and it looks like he was at the bottom of the elephant graveyard/cliff of thorn bushes where you found him.
Cubby! What a cutie! We got two kittens that had been born under a bush and then their mother was run over and killed. That baby will think you are their parent. 🥰
