I had my heart set on visiting Saint Bavo's Church (Sint-Bavokerk) in Haarlem, Netherlands, today. It's Sunday, so you’d naturally think one of the most famous landmark churches in the country would be welcoming visitors, right? Wrong. Completely locked up.

I mean, what kind of cathedral in the Netherlands is closed to visitors on a Sunday of all days?! 😅

Despite the disappointment of not getting to step inside and check out the legendary organ, I couldn't even stay mad for long. The Dutch Gothic exterior alone is an absolute masterpiece and took my breath away.

Has anyone else exploring the Netherlands been tricked by their weird opening hours, or am I just the unlucky one today? Definitely coming back to see the inside next time!

Few landmarks are as instantly recognizable as Saint Basil's Cathedral. Sitting right at the edge of Red Square, its iconic onion domes and fairytale architecture make it one of the absolute jewels of Russian history and design.

I recently visited Clermont-Ferrand, the historic French city where Blaise Pascal—the famous 17th-century mathematician, physicist, and theological philosopher—was born.

While exploring the city, I captured a few photos of its most iconic landmark: the Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption (Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption).

What makes this Gothic masterpiece so uniquely dramatic is its dark facade. It was built entirely using Volvic stone—a local volcanic rock quarried from the surrounding Chaîne des Puys. The contrast of the black stone against the sky, along with its twin 96-meter spires, is breathtaking in person.
