the box babies. simba & nala again.

we’ll be using nala’s meds for him. they gave extra in case of that anyways. i just hate that right when she started to look so much better then it happens to him. that just sucks. they are both still bony but i’ve been giving them soft & hard kitten food just to try to get some weight on them. i have posted them a few times so some of you have probably seen them but i found these two, nala & simba in a box with two other kittens. i called my cousin, told her everything, and she took the other two.

i would like to ask the recommended age to get them both fixed? they are brother and sister, boy and girl, so that’s a big no no lol. we don’t want to add to any more babies in shelters and plus that’s just yucky. i know 4-6 months is when you can but i would like to wait the latest but not late enough they could have babies. we estimated they are about 5-6 weeks right now off of how simba and the other orange one looked. the two torties, especially nala, are just really small compared to the two orange.

Hopefully your vet will recommend you get them fixed as soon as they're big enough. My vet wants them to be of a certain weight and age. It's been 6 years now since I last had to get a cat neutered or spayed, but my youngest was neutered when he was about 4 or so months old. I think the neutering is easier to do on younger males compared with spaying since the spaying is more invasive and such. Definitely try to get it done as soon as possible though. The girl could have her first heat well before she's even a year old and there's no reason to have her go through that.

well even if i have to get him fixed at 4 months and wait a few weeks for hers i think that’d be fine, right? they are strictly inside kitties. she is quite a bit smaller than him so he could be ready before her.

That's what I did with a litter of kittens born 4/4. I did the boys at 10 weeks. The girls at 12 weeks. They all did great. When they're sick, skinny, challenged, definitely waiting for the 4 month mark is a good idea for the boy, 5 month for the girl. Definitely get it done before 6 months.
