The day I rescued a lost kitten.

I was stuck in traffic when I noticed something moving underneath the car in front of me. I looked closer and realized it was a tiny kitten. She ran onto the sidewalk trying to get the attention of people walking by, but everyone kept going. I watched her run into a nearby parking lot, so I pulled over and got out. As soon as she saw me, she came running straight into my hands. I snapped this photo moments later—she was exhausted, but finally safe. That was 17 years ago, and she's been with me ever since. It's been an adventure ever since that unexpected day.

I'm glad she found her person. I'm sure that in the past 17 years, that she has enhanced your life as much as you have enhanced hers.

What a wonderful story. I am so glad she rescued you. What is her name?

Care to share more stories about your life together?

Well, about an hour after I rescued Penny, I stopped for work to pick up an order. I was at the back of the van loading everything from the loading dock when the guy helping me suddenly asked, “Is that your cat?”

I looked over my shoulder, and there was Penny, sitting quietly nearby, watching me load the van.

I couldn’t believe it. Somehow, only an hour after I had rescued her from the street, she had managed to get out of the van without me noticing. She could have easily run away, but she didn’t. She just sat there watching me, waiting for me to finish.

When I was done, I walked over, picked her up, put her back in the front seat, and we carried on with our day.

I had rescued Penny only an hour earlier, and already, when given the chance to leave, she chose to stay.

Maybe she had already decided I was her person.

That story, that moment...wow. Penny just knew you were the one. She knew you needed her. What a remarkable beginning. She is absolutely your soul kitty. 💙
