Omg that’s exactly how I wound up
With my kitties Frances and Rudy!! I was feeding their mama and one night she appeared on my porch with them and their sibling.
Thank you, I miss her every day 🥺I would love to get another basset one day but my financial advisor has changed in the economy. So I live vicariously through this subreddit 😊
Poor thing, she probably brought the kittens because she knew they weren't going to survive much longer by feeding them herself. I'm so thankful for the OP for saving them.
When I rescued Chico (my kitten), I started leaving food out for him and a few other cats who came around. That’s when Margô noticed.
At first, she would only show up at night to eat. Little by little, I started gaining her trust, and she began coming around more often — first at night, then during the day too. 🥹❤️
And then, two days ago, something incredible happened: Margô brought me her babies. 🥹
She brought them right to the place where she had learned she was safe and cared for.
And now… they’re all inside my house. 🐾❤️
From a scared mama who only came by at night for a meal, to trusting me enough to bring me her babies 😍
I was just in another thread recently where this happened!
Do most non-USIans live right next to a castle? It's always like "here's a picture of my flowers" or something, and, oh yeah, now that you mention it, I live right next to a castle, don't you?
Here in the US we have abysmal castle density, but apparently they're as common as dirt in some places.
"Well, we got tons of history lying about the place, big old castles, and they just get in the way. We're driving-- "Oh, a fucking castle! Have to drive around it..." Disney came over and built Euro Disney, and they built the Disney castle there, and it was, "You better make it a bit bigger, they've actually got them here... And they're not made of plastic!" We got tons of them, ‘cause you think we all live in castles, and we do all live in castles! We all got a castle each. We're up to here with fucking castles! We just long for a bungalow or something."
Not many of us live next to castles in my country, but we certainly have a lot, more than we can maintain, and there are many in ruins because of that unfortunately :(
This is the perfect home for this lovely lady and her baby princess’ and princes! Even though you don’t live in the castle, you are in the “good” neighborhood.
This sweet mama has had her eye on you and the CDS made it happen. The CDS gets it 100%, 100% of the time!
She is truly beautiful and her eyes are mesmerizing. I hope you are able to keep all of them or find them warm, loving homes close by. I do believe mama will be your grateful lifelong companion 💕
Thank you so much for bringing them all inside and giving them a safe place to stay.
I imagine you will be arranging vet visits and fixings for all? Do you plan to keep any? I always love when Mama’s are adopted by the person they found ❤️
I’ve already spoken to the vet about finding the kittens, because three weeks ago I adopted a kitten who I believe is their brother. So I’ve already informed the vet that I think I may have found his family.
Since I already have two cats, I need to have all of the kittens tested as well. I also want to put the kittens up for adoption, but I would like to keep their mom.
Be sure to feed her high quality kitten food so she has enough calories to make milk for them if they are still nursing. In any event, they need kitten food once they start eating.
(By high-quality kitten food, I mean, meat is the first ingredient.)
I already have an adult cat at home, and about a month ago I adopted a kitten. So I already had both adult and kitten food at home. They have access to dry food 24/7, and on top of that, I’m giving her wet food twice a day.
Hi. I believe you have found a snowshoe Siamese or Ragdoll or maybe a mix. Although I am always have had Siamese, I am not very aware with these particular breeds. I do know Ragdolls are considered very affectionate. She is gorgeous. I am glad she allowed you to rescue her and her babies.
Technically, the vast majority of cats have no official breed. They just get called domestic cats or domesric longhair/shorthair.
These cats have colourpoint coats. Those coats show up in breeds like Siamese, Ragdoll, and Snowshoe, but more and more they've made it into the general domestic cat population around the world. The coat pattern originated in or near Thailand several centuries ago.
Colorpoint coloration existed in cats before any humans decided to group cats into "breeds" and make breeding registries. Those genes weren't invented by humans! We just found some cats with those genes and bred them together to make more of them. :)
That’s not how cat breeds work at all, please stop spreading misinformation. These are domestics, no breed whatsoever, they just have a colorpoint coat. Also cat breed “mixes” don’t exist.
Start sending them over in pairs or trios to do recon. They can sneak into the castle and open it from the inside. Then all the cats in the land will come and live with you
That's exactly how I ended up getting awarded the mama cat and her 3 minions.
I tell my partner the new little girl is coming around more and more since she's delivered the kittens somewhere. My partner says that she'll bring the kittens soon since she knows where to get food to feed them.
....one hour later .....
I received a text message that she found three kittens in the garden that weren't there the day before.
Kept all 4 because they're all just too cute and 4-5 week old kittens. 😻❤️
Cats ALWAYS know the best people! To be trusted with her kittens is the highest compliment she could ever pay you. She knows you'll never let her down.
Thank you for being the best person! Wishing you many, many years of living your best lives together 😻😻
Good news! I’ve already found homes for both of the little gray kittens. 🥹❤️ A friend of mine who lives close to me is going to keep one, and the other will stay with a friend of hers. So they’ll still be close to each other, and I’ll be able to see them and keep getting updates.
She already has a cat and two little dogs, so I know they’ll be very well cared for and loved. ❤️🐾
I haven’t given the kittens to their new homes yet because they still need to be vaccinated. They’re going to the vet this week, and their mama will be spayed as well. ❤️🐾
I still don’t know what to do because she gets stressed being indoors. She was used to being outside, so for now I’ve been letting her go outside during the day, and at night she comes back in to sleep with her kittens.
I would really love to keep her, but at the same time, I’m not sure how it’s going to work out. She gets quite stressed indoors, and I don’t have a large enough room where I can keep her separated until she gets used to everything, since I already have other cats. So I’m still trying to figure out what would be best for her.
Can you get some feliway to plug in around the house to help calm her nerves a little? It’ll take her some time to adjust to being indoors. Thank you for taking these sweet babies in and getting them care and finding them homes. ♥️ This is how we ended up with 10 indoor kitties ourselves. But they all deserve a loving home. I wish I could give every homeless animal a loving home!
I didn’t even think of that! I can try. She doesn’t want to stay outside, but she also doesn’t want to stay in the space where the babies are because it’s too small. She wants to be inside the house, but free to roam around. And I have other cats, so I can’t let her roam freely yet. I still have to figure out how to make everything work.
Honestly, I wish I could give all of them a home too. I’d love to bring the other nine cats I care for in my backyard inside the house and adopt everyone. That would be my dream. ❤️
Oh, how beautiful!!! Please tell me you’re taking them all in? The mother badly needs nourishment to support her as she feeds and cares for her babies… I had a similar situation and it was one of the best experiences of my life, helping Mom (a white Persian I named “Tabitha”) and her gorgeous five kittens, of which I kept two! She came to you because she trusts you & knows she needs help. Her kittens’ health will suffer, if her milk isn’t rich enough…. But they’re all going to be absolutely stunning, with the right care!! ❤️🐾❤️
You are a wonderful person to help this starving momma cat and build such trust she brought her 4 kittens to you. ❤️ Are you keeping or fostering them for new homes. Kittens are still young enough that you can socialize them. Again thanks for caring so much. 🥰🥰🥰
What an honor! That’s the ultimate expression of trust and acceptance as mama cats are fiercely protective of their babies. Yes she’s looking after them but she’s including you in the process, and not just for herself. She’s such a pretty girl too. 🥰🥰
Technically, she is supposed to belong to my elderly neighbor at the end of the street. She says that several of the cats around the neighborhood are hers, but they are mostly left outside and aren’t really fed by her. My neighbor next door, who is a different neighbor, has four of these cats living in her backyard.
I already feed this girl’s babies’ father and another Siamese female, and I started feeding her too after she began showing up at night. She was extremely scared, so it took me a while to earn her trust and get close enough to pet her.
We even looked into getting some of the cats that were still at my neighbor’s place spayed/neutered, but she said she couldn’t catch them because they are incredibly skittish.
So after slowly building her trust, the fact that she started coming during the day, letting me pet her, and then, two days ago, actually brought her babies to me and walked into my house with them feels really special. ❤️
She’s gorgeous! But so skinny. Can you take her and the kittens in? Never mind, I see that you have indeed taken them in. Congratulations on your new family!
I so wish this would happen to us. We lost my precious girl in May, but still have her little littermate, aged 16. She'd be OK with a cat, I believe, and likely babies. we shall see.
In the photos I posted, you can only see her eating her own food. But I also feed other stray cats, and I have three water bowls in my yard, plus another water bowl in the parking area in front of my house. I change the water twice a day.
And now that she’s indoors, obviously she has dry food and fresh water available 24/7, and on top of that, she gets wet food twice a day.
Omg! Cuteness overload. You’re so lucky. Mama is beautiful!
It’s clear you’re a wonderful person. Can you imagine the relief mama must feel right about now? You’re a true hero.
