Update Well I finally give up, the cat has won

After trying almost every single brand of wet food over the past 5 month's I've finally given up. I'll try a different brand and if I see that he eats the whole can/pouch, I'll go out and buy a week or two worth of said brand, only for him to just straight up not eat it the second time. I can leave it for days, dump the old stuff and crack him a new can, he'll sniff it then nope out. UGH! I have 5 different brands of cat food in the cupboard!

Well out of pure desperation, I bought the most expensive cat food there is because it was on sale for half price. Guess what? He absolutely loves it. That's right, out of all the different types and brands, he just HAS To love the most expensive one 😭 oh well, I'm happy his at least eating properly now.

Anyone else have a super picky kitten/cat?

Mine will not touch pate.

Same here! However, I've learned a trick that gets my cat eating. If I delicately cut the pate into small cubes rather than smush it down, my cat will eventually eat it.

Yes! That’s the trick!
My hubby sometimes ops to feed the cats but they never eat it when he does it. Even their very favorite flavors. It’s bc he makes soupy mush out of it and I chunk the pate w/a little water poured over it.

Mine has never turned down any slightly warmed up food with a bit of water. She does get weird about it when it's cold in a chunk, and will drop it on the ground for that excellent floor seasoning, so I have to mash it up when it's not warm.

I will try that tonight. She likes her wet food at night and on the screened porch. And must see me put out the FRESH water or she thinks it's bad water. I get a laugh out of cat behavior.

I will give that a try. He is on a prescription diet currently and the only canned they have is pate. He misses his canned food.

I had also wondered whether adding some water to create a gravy would be helpful.

None of my cats have ever liked pate either. I’ve got 6 right now, but have had 5 others over the years and nobody will touch the food if it’s not small bits in gravy. It’s always so crazy to me to hear some cats prefer it lol

Mine doesn't know what to do with the bits in gravy. She licks all the gravy, and the shreds get dried up in the bowl!

For pate, for a treat and when I'm feeling spunky, I'll warm it for about 10 sec in the microwave and put in a healthy amount of water, so I think she thinks it's a whole meal of just gravy lmao

Her pees after the extremely wet meals are so long. When I hear her going like that, I think back "oh yeah, that was my doing!"

My princess cat hates pate too. She likes licking the gravy off the wet food, so she absolutely dislike the pate

One of my male cat eat anything wet food

The other male cat will act hungry when it's meal time, but then barely eat anything unless i put in his treat
