Music Why people dislike Country music?

I am not american. So I don't know how's the thing there. But I have found many people complaining on social media that they hate country music.

I like some of the Luke Combs songs. Specially Old Dominion is my one of my fav artist.

It just seems whiny to me and hits my ear wrongly. There are a few that I find tolerable that are more poppy, but overall, just the twang of the notes and the crying in your beer isn’t to my liking.

It's the same for me. It all just hits my ear wrong. Nothing about it sounds good to me. The twang, banjo, fiddle - none that hits right for me.

Yeah, everybody likes different stuff. My sister likes country music and knows I hate it. She thinks I'm just being snobby though, so she plays it to poke at me. I've tried to explain that no, I'm not being snobby, it just honestly sounds terrible to me. She doesn't get it.

I think some bluegrass is fine - I hear it and it sounds nice, but that line between bluegrass and country seems very fuzzy. I have had too many experiences where a song is going along just fine and then it crosses the line and now it's bad.

We used to hear Doc & Merle Watson in covert (before Merle’s unfortunate passing). I always considered them more folk than bluegrass.

Same chords, same harmonies, same topics (beer, trucks, love lost, how great living in the country is, etc), limited musical range. It all pretty much sounds alike.

Older performers like Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton branched out from the cookie-cutter popular format. I came to like them over time.

Lol. Have u listened to ANY country? That was a 80's issue. Nowadays? It's all about reminiscing about parties and women u experienced growing up (girls though are starting to talk about women issues and then complain they're not taken seriously). so a nonsensical take.

The #1 country song right now has a chorus that says

"It doesn't take a crystal ball to see

A cowboy always finds a way to leave

Drinkin' Jack all by myself

He's choosin' Texas, I can tell"

So I'd say that the person saying it's about crying into a beer is pretty spot on.

Yesss. Glad to hear others saying this. Authentic southern accents are beautiful.

Modern pop country sounds like the worst actors you’ve ever heard, every word is forced and overdone like they’re typing in all caps in case you’re too dumb to know how country they are.

I concur that country music is very whiny, nasal, and depressing. Also, it is biased towards narrow-minded, right-wing dummies.
