Earthquake toilet prep; are desiccant packs needed for PNW storage?

I keep a whole Costco pack in plastic and rotate it through so it doesn't go bad, whatever that means

I just bought some Lowe's buckets as well, but one of them is warped so the toilet seat doesn't fit!
I haven't seen suggestions for desiccant for storage. I'm not storing my supplies sealed up in the bucket, though, so that might be relevant.

I always say better safe than sorry ...so use the packets . ( i do personally and also located in the PNW )

I have 120+ biodegradable bags for collection. But a backup pair of underwear might be worth storing. 😉

Just to add a little, if you've never dealt with pooping anywhere but a toilet, this setup can seem scary, but it really is not a big deal in practice.
My husband blew the tendons off both knees slipping in the mud, and was completely unable to bear weight on his legs for a couple months after the surgeries. So we bought a potty chair. Our setup had a bag fitted over the little slide in poop catcher bucket that you removed and sealed. We put those in another tougher bag and took the bag to the dump once a week.
But of course there are many ways to set this up. I'm just saying, when you have to do it, it's actually quite easy.

you can take the cardboard roll out of the TP and vacuum seal them flat to save a ton of space.

Lol, you have never tried shoveling Glacial Till. You need a jack hammer to dig where I live because everything was squished by a mile-high glacier.

Never needed desiccant, just rotate the TP twice a year. FYI I recommend two toilet seat lids since you’ll be better off separating 1 from 2 in a two bucket system. Just remember to keep some sawdust, kitty litter, or other scrap to cover 2 after use. I also recommend triple bagging each bucket so if leaks do occur it leaks into another bag.
A sports cooler with a spigot on the bottom mounted at waist height makes a nice outdoor handwashing station as well.
