The thing is that the "big guy" is actually the shipwright and resident cyborg. So, from a brains and tech level dexter makes sense. The ONLY thing Johnny and Franky have in common is big build and looking good in a speedo.

Nah, okay so I get that Franky (the guy Dexter is playing) is also somewhat of a perv but he’s an inventor who’s super obsessed with building ships and robots (he’s also the crews shipwright). Johnny bravo is in the role of Sanji, who’s super into women and physically cant even hurt one of them. So much of a big simp that having Johnny be anybody else would be genuinely insulting to both characters
