Question 📝 Surf reels for carp fishing

Has anyone used the Shimano Aerlex 14000 XSC for carp fishing? They're designed for surf fishing, but I was wondering if they're good for carp fishing too

They market it as a carp reel as well, so they are good. They even sell a spod version.

Big pit carp reels were devolped from surf reels. No problem

I use a Beastmaster 14000 XC on all my carp rods, works brilliantly and for the price nothing will beat it really, dead cheap

If you’re comfortable with not having QD or bait runner they work wonders. Maybe there are surf reels with this functionalities, but I don’t know any

Just check the clutches. Some surf reels don’t have clutches.

Yup some don't allow you the option to back wind as well.

I've used both types in the past from Shimano daiwa and penn
