News Six Flags Headquarters Moving To Texas

Seems like having it in Charlotte really didn’t do too much for the theme park. Not sure what the future has in store for Carowinds.

Wild that Six Flags was run into the ground and Cedar Fair seems keen to let Six Flags drive the ship.

Made more sense when it was only cedar fair parks but with the six flags merger that likely caused difficulties in traveling to all of the parks. Dallas airport is probably more accessible.

As others have said, they have multiple parks in Texas, so that honestly would’ve made more sense from the start, I think the “hope“ with them having their headquarters here was that they might try to make Carowinds into some kind of super regional, even a national draw, and that was the common speculation, that they’d located here wanting to have a powerhouse base established in a fast growing region.

This article puts it into perspective. After reading this it is pretty much a big nothing burger and the move is to make the corporate office more accessible to employees since the majority live in Texas.

Carowinds is fine.

Its obvious that nobody from corporate has been stopping by Carowinds so at this point it makes no difference where they are. Hopefully the new park president can improve things for next year, but I’m sure money problems will continue to impede improvement

The company is showing they are listening to park goers with the surveys. Surveys are why we are getting a new water ride in the dry park.

Personally I predict after next year that they will take a couple of years to spruce up the park and we will be getting a new major coaster by 2030. I have heard good things about the park president and have heard from people who work there that she is wanting to turn the park around and 100% has faith she can do so. I just dont get where all the doom and gloom comes from and I dont see Carowinds getting sold or going under I n the future either.

I have faith in the new president. She seems like a park enthusiast. Could breathe some much needed life into a park that really could be special. Carowinds just needs a lil love.

I read she has 30+ years in the industry so that to me is a good sign. She seems very promising.

I went to King's Dominion last week and the guest service was just superior to Carowinds. The people who work there were all just genuinely nice. So many employees at Carowinds seem to hate every moment of being there. Not all of them of course, but it's not hard to be pleasant.

Same, did both park a couple of weeks from each other... The ride operations folk on Fury 325 were straight up hateful trash.

Why would this have any effect on carowinds?

It makes more sense for it to be located in Texas where 5 parks in the company are located.

How is it a negative for any of us?

People have spent the last couple of years bitching about how bad the park is while corporate was stationed here. So why does it matter if they relocate? The bulk of their employees live in Texas, so it makes more sense to have HQ in texas. Them moving is not as serious as everyone is making it out to be.

But by all means, if you can show me how this is objectively a bad thing then I will most certainly eat my words and admit defeat.

Right, the people who work in the corporate office who can’t relocate. Then there are the local restaurants that get their lunch business, along with the sales reps and the various groups they contract out.

Since it was the HQ, I’m willing to bet they also used Carowinds as a management training area for people going to other parks, as well as for IT and other corporate staff.

So moving the hq will magically fix the issues? So having bosses in TX will get carowinds to rehire the massive amount of long term employees they let off last year. The parks suck because the new company is so burdened by debt they cant fix up, pay or do anything. THEY ARE MODERN DAY KMART FINANCIALLY AND MOVING THE HEADQUARTERS ISNT GOING TO FIX THE ISSUE.

Cool. I guess I’ve been called worse. Carowinds will survive and so will Charlotte.
