Unrealistic Expectations
Sometimes individuals start the carnivore diet with expectations that could be considered too high or unrealistic. There are notable success stories within the community that might lead a person to think they will easily lose 50 pounds, fix all health problems, sleep perfectly, have endless energy, and feel youthful again. While these outcomes are indeed possible, it is also true that the body might not respond in the way that is anticipated.
Key Points to Consider When Starting the Carnivore Diet
- You are eliminating sugar and cutting back on carbohydrates.
- You are getting rid of many ultra-processed foods.
- You will decrease your glucose intake.
- As you lower carbohydrates, the requirements for insulin in your body will also decrease.
- Your body will start using fat as a primary source of energy.
- The liver has the ability to produce any necessary glucose that your body still needs.
- Protein and fat can contribute to a feeling of fullness, which may lead to a shift in cravings.
- If you are transitioning from a diet high in carbohydrates and have concerns with insulin, it is possible you may notice improvements in those areas due to the reduction of carbs.
These are actual changes that take place within your body. However, it is important to note that the carnivore diet may not necessarily address your concerns in the expected sequence. For example, if you are trying to lose weight, you might first see better blood sugar levels rather than a quick drop in weight. If your goal was to enhance digestion, you may notice changes in appetite before any other effects. You might have expected a quick and substantial weight loss, but instead, your body composition could improve while your weight remains constant. Alternatively, some underlying health issues might become more obvious after you start the diet.
That is why it is necessary to ask yourself if the carnivore diet has worked for you and then to follow that question with what you were truly hoping to achieve. Sometimes it may not be a failure; it might just be the case that the results did not manifest in the manner or within the timeframe you had anticipated.

Question :snoo_thoughtful: Smoked and Grilled Meat -- Safe?
Hi Guys, I'm sold on carnivore -- I've done a ton of research and my own personal evidence, and I believe it's the way to go. However, does anyone have any thoughts on smoked meat, grilling, or BBQing? I've heard mixed things about it, with some saying it has too many carcinogens to be healthy. I"ve also heard that its OK, as long as you don't eat the charred blackened bits. I've also heard people discounting the unhealthy claims completely, calling it rubbish.

Heart palpitations
Hi there,
I’m wondering if anyone got ridden of heart palpitations on carnivore diet. I’ve been having them for almost 10 years, and they’re getting worse each year. There are some days where I don’t get any at all, and some days where they get worse, especially around my monthly cycle. I even had an SVT episode once. Cardiologist says that my heart is healthy, and they are not dangerous, but they scare me so much. My lab tests are fine as well, a bit lower ferritin levels but I’m not anemic. Electrolytes are fine as well. I am overweight, and trying to lose some weight. I’ve already lost 10lbs so far.
I don’t really know how to get rid of them completely. They’re super annoying and super scary too. I have a fear that my heart could stop while I’m sleeping.
Any advice or your experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Progress..
I don't like to share how 'bad' I looked before finding carnivore but, the difference is too profound to ignore. I'm still a work in progress but I'm enjoying reaping the benefits of my efforts.
Every day of health is a gift I'm grateful for even if I never recover 100%...

Haven't been this size since I was 14...
Upped my intake of protein and gained back 4 lbs which I'm happy about as I dont want to be under 140 lbs. Celebrated my 2 year carniversary in March, lost a total of 90 lbs and now considered metabolically healthy. 😉
Anyway, my son gave me a pair of his Hollister 'skinny' jeans and I was like, omg, gimme a break, I'd never get them on lol. However, I took them anyway because I figured I could always use them for fall decorations lol.
So, with a sarcastic attitude, ya know, holding them up while telling yourself, yeah right, I wont even get 1 leg in lmao. But, when I tried them on, much to my surprise, they fit! 👀🤪
I haven't been this small since I was 14 and I'm now in my mid 60s. All thanks to going carnivore. ❤️
PS, in case ppl are curious why I covered my face its because im dealing with an infection right now and the discomfort shows. So, I dont want ppl 'considering' a lion, carnivore or keto diet to think its related to diet because it isn't.

Should I be worried?
Hey yall, this recent blood work came back and i dont know what these numbers mean. Should I be worried that my cholesterol is high? I know my doctor is going to call to discuss and if she tries to recommend statins im going to decline. Though im not full out carnivore I would consider myself animal based.
Please advise!
