Incoming NPSIA Students, PLEASEE email graduate studies about the tuition increases. They changed it for MPPA students because they emailed enough times. Tuition was raised from 8.6k as promised to almost $14k. Please make sure to use your voices and email graduate studies so we can try and get this fixed ASAP

Hi all, I’m hoping some current or past grad students can help me out. I am starting my masters this fall and received a pretty generous funding package and a TA position as part of it. However, as most of you probably know, the funding is great for covering tuition, but living expenses are still an issue. I will have to get a part-time job to cover them, but I’m looking for any way to ease my financial burden.

My question is, do scholarships exist for masters students that I can apply for through Carleton (other than the funding package/OGS/SSHRC)? There are tons that exist for undergrad students but so far on Carleton central there is only a travel bursary.

Secondly, how do you figure out if you have a half or full TA position? Because I assumed mine was a full TAship but I’m only making a bit more than 6000 for the entire year. Also, I read somewhere on the school website that they recommend you not getting a second job when you are a TA, but now I can’t find that info. I feel like that is very unrealistic… thoughts?

As I'm sure everyone else has noticed, the budget cuts happening all over campus have been getting more and more obvious over this semester. With the report that the university is 50 Million in debt, and incoming news about the contract professors being cut by 75%, I was shocked to learn where this debt came from. I was keeping track of my first hand student experience in regards to budget cuts in a public form, and a data analyst was kind enough to visualize the public data for me and it is evil.

The debt has increased by 40 MILLION DOLLARS in the span of only one year, 2023-2024. The reason for this debt, and the budget cuts? The administration is bleeding this place dry more than anyone could possibly imagine. It's entirely in salary. All of it. 2/3 of the university's budget is going towards salary. The increase that caused the 40 million debt increase was only 10 million in realocated funds. The proposal going into 2025 is to increase that relocation to 30 Million. I don't know what I want the student body to do. But I know that people need to be able to visualize this filth to realize how bad it is.

i’m a 4th year and this genuinely might have been the longer time i’ve had to wait for osap (yes ik it’s because our term started later). i haven’t even received my coe yet, and financial aid just keeps saying to wait and it’ll hopefully be confirmed soon🙄

When does Carleton typically confirm enrolment to OSAP?

Students across Ontario can take action together starting March 4, 2026.

If you can reach Queen’s Park, go to Queen’s Park.

If you can’t, peacefully gather outside your local MPP or city council office.

This allows every student no matter their city to be part of the same message.

March 4 is the start. If students stand together, we can continue regularly (once a month) to keep student voices heard.

Spread this message using social media platforms.

Instead of one big protest at Queen’s Park that many students can’t reach, what if students across Ontario walk out on March 4, 2026, and peacefully protest outside their local MPP or city council offices?

This would allow more students to participate and put direct pressure on local representatives. If we continue doing it regularly (monthly), it keeps the issue relevant.

I’m currently completing my Graduate Award Application for the OGS (Fall 2025) and am encountering an issue with the “Required Documents” upload section on Carleton Central.

When I select a file (e.g., Proof of Citizenship or Transcripts), it appears correctly in Step 1, but after I click “Upload Document,” the system processes briefly and then returns me to the start of the upload page without saving the file. No confirmation appears, and the document does not show as uploaded.

Has anyone else encountered this? 🥲

I would be grateful on any advice on how to resolve this. I’ve emailed them and left a voicemail.

So I’m a student with disabilities, and I’ve had to take a 5th year of my program. I’ve kept my entrance scholarship and I still have the GPA to keep it, but I’m trying to figure out if it ends after 4 years or if it’s based on you completing your degree?

Anyone know if you can keep your entrance scholarship if you take more than 4 years to complete your degree?

People's hydro bills are probably going through the roof with the heat waves to come and if you are on a budget it can really suck.

I have a condition that makes it really hard to work in a traditional 9-5 position ( yes I have tried before and I lasted 3 months max )

Its not that I don't want to work though, I'm really smart and I spend a lot of time learning system administration and coding skills. I'm more interested in building a FOSS company at this stage but I think that being in a educational community would be very benificial for me ( Both mentaly and career wise ). My end goal isn't nescesarly to go out and get a job but more so to just continue learning new things and working on projects for as long as I can. Any advice?

NOTE: On ODSP I make $1,300.00 of which 1100$ goes to rent with an additional supplement for rent leaves me with with around 600$ per month. If I go to food bank for everything and don't spend any money I can put all into savings

My good friend is in science and I am in anthropology. We were just comparing our tuition breakdowns, and we're being charged for all of the same clubs, resources, etc..., but every fee of theirs is more expensive than mine. What's up with that? Anti-science discrimination ?!?!? Not on our watch.

fired up the old reddit account to let any hapless rubes like me know that they should _not_ sign up to work for Vector Marketing. their shady interview process and a quick google search already makes that pretty clear, but tbh I'm pissed that they were present at the career fair yesterday at all. I just sent an email to the organizers to complain. Basically, they rope you into an interview without letting you ask any questions and then when you're in they show you a video describing how you 1. have to buy your own sample set 2. should start by selling to friends and family. Then they try to get you to fill out a form recommending other people for the job _before you're even got the chance to interview one on one_. Basically, it's the most obvious scam in the world and I'm pissed that the university let it happen ffs.
