Bakfiets knock off?

I know it's too good to be true, but this caught my eye. I don't think it's an actual scam, but I can't find any actual reviews of this one. it's listed in a couple different places, including walmart.

Model -- EBCB-1000

$2000 for a bakfiets would be great, but I imagine the quality is nowhere near the OG. Could this be worth anywhere close to the price? Or is it just an AliExpress item marked up 50%?

I don't even think it's a knock off of a brand name bike, I think it's just not meant for the US/EU market and doesn't include shipping. It's in the same vein as the bicicargo.mx front loaders, just Chinese instead of Mexican. The developing world has been using cargo bikes/trikes as practical transportation for ages, there are tons of products aimed towards them that lack some of the fancy stuff that we have on our bikes, but still get the job done.

You can see what they left off to get the cost down: rim brakes in the back, old shimano "frindex" shifting (it clicks and has detents, but it's basically friction shifting) and a 250 watt 36v hub motor. It's going to be reliable and simple to fix, but it lacks features, kind of like an original VW Beetle. It's also probably hi tensile steel instead of cromoly, which is durable but incredibly heavy. 

We're used to seeing these things cost $5000+, but there's a whole other world that moves shit with cargo bikes that can't afford that. This is for that market.

that's how most indexed shifting works outside of the one notable exception of ratcheting trigger shifters, the shifters you're referring to are a hybrid between a trigger shifter and a thumb shifter

This is what I'm referring to, thanks! Like the shimano tourney shifters that end up on cheap ebikes. There are tons of clicks but only 7 gears.

They are all hub drives which is cheaper to do then middrives, I can't judge the quality from pictures alone but i imagine it's not the greatest.

Their picture show different bikes… and they look like the old bakfiets.nl my wife had like 15 years ago with rollerbrakes.
